does cradle cushion feel like simple seal?

Post by newname » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:15 pm

I've used the simple seal on the comfort lite II and I'd like to try the optilife with the cradle cushion because there won't be that large plastic thing on my head. Do they feel about the same? Do you think the sizing would be the same?

They are quite different, the "cradle" goes under the nose not over the tip.
The "cradle" looks in photographs very much like the seal in the ComfortCurve, works really well for me when I kludge it to not creep up and block a nostril.
Look at photographs.

Didn't work for me, could not keep it up to my nares and stop leaking.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

From photos it appears the OptiLife "cradle" depends on a lever effect created by the headgear and chin strap being offset where they attach to the seal carrier. It appears to be adjustable - two positions.
I don't know how chin strap is adjusted, that's probably important.

The cradle concept on my Comfort Curve does not require much force to seal against my nose.

I've determined that the cushions are not interchangeable between ComfortCurve and OptiLife.

I don't find the OptiLife as comfortable as my kludged ComfortCurve, but with clips that break and seal that may eventually wear out I'll have to get used to it.

Fallback for nasal interface is the Adams pillows with different headgear and other modifications, no other pillow design comes close. (Several now made since patent expired but they have a fundamental flaw.)
