I have been on CPAP for almost a year.
I am using a Full Face Mask and finding hat my head feels really sore in spots. My husband looked at my scalp and said it looks like small ingrown hairs or pimples.
Can this be from the strap across my head?
Thanks,
Marilyn

Re: Second question - sore head
The first thing that comes to mind is that your straps may be too tight.
I believe there is a sleeping cap that you may want to look into. It would cushion the straps against your scalp.

Re: Second question - sore head
Marilyn, in my first several weeks of cpap I had a case of contact dermatitis on my scalp, worst right where the mask straps were in contact w/ my scalp. It was quite sore. Doc prescribed a steroid cream which helped clear it up along with using a fabric liner under the strap for a while. Since then it's been fine, no fabric liner needed and no recurrence. The Baby Crow wrote:I have been on CPAP for almost a year.

Re: Second question - sore head
Is your headgear neoprene?
Neoprene was the 2009 "Contact Allergan of the Year." It can cause a nasty reaction. The chemicals are part of the curing process and can never be washed out.
I agree with kaiasgram: try protecting your skin from the headgear wherever it touches. Steroid cream didn't help me, but keeping every millimeter of my skin protected does.
Good luck!

I had the same problem. Padacheek.com sells strap covers. As soon as I started using them my problem went away. That was probably 5 1/2 years ago.
