Hello,
So I checked my numbers this morning on my machine and on ResMed/my air, and I got a green smiley face and a 16l/mn, an AHI of 0.1, which according to the site/machine those are good numbers. Well I just got an email from ResMed which notified me that I'm having higher leak rates, and to check my mask. I think I did sleep with my mouth open a few times, because I woke up with a really dry mouth today.
Should I be concerned? Any advice, thoughts, suggestions?
Confused about leaks...
Re: Confused about leaks...
Try a few FF masks. You can't be responsible for what happens when you're asleep, so maybe need to be sure it doesn't happen again.

Hi Dawn -- I don't think you need to jump to a full face mask at this point. You may have gotten the alert from ResMed just because you briefly hit large leak a couple of times -- not necessarily a significant problem. You just started therapy -- if you like the nasal pillow mask and the leaks are not disturbing your sleep and you are getting the green smiley face, then I'd stick with it for a while and keep working on minimizing mouth leaks. Let us know if you need suggestions for 'tricks' to stop mouth leaking -- there are several that folks have used successfully.

I know you said in previous posts you would wait to download sleepyhead. But if you're concerned about leaks, this might be a reason for you to do so. By directly looking at the data, you can see what percentage of time you are asleep the leak is occurring.
For example, if it is only for a small period of time and you feel your sleep isn't being impacted, then I wouldn't worry about it. A dry mouth as an FYI may not necessarily be due to opening it as before my septoplasty, I would get one constantly but my leak rate was fine with the elan cloth mask.
Of course, if you think you would prefer looking into a full face mask, by all means, give it a shot.
If you click on the link in my signature profile for downloading sleepyhead, that will take you to the program.

trying to summarize the whole night in a couple of numbers is nearly useless.

Here is a site that will help you with Sleepyhead. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead
I wouldn't use the Sourceforge site because sometimes you can get unwanted extras from Sourceforge. If you have questions just ask.
