Suggestions for Nasal Pillows Mask to Minimize TMJ Pain??

Post by MarylandCPAPer » Mon Jun 29, 2015 10:22 pm

After 5.5 years, I am getting a new CPAP machine and mask at the DME's office later today. I have been using an Airfit P10 nasal pillows mask for the past 1.5 years. Does anyone know of a nasal pillows mask that is even more lightweight over the jaw / TMJ and forehead area? '

I previously used the Breeze nasal pillows mask, which had nothing over the sides of the face. I see it on the cpap.com website, but I was told by 2 DMEs that it was no longer made. I prefer that design and will ask if it is once again available.

Are there any other masks anyone would suggest that don't have tight straps over the jaw area.I prefer nasal pillows masks. I don't think I could tolerate a full face mask. I tried a Wisp nasal mask at my last sleep study, and while I did manage to sleep with it for 2 hours (the only sleep I got the entire night), I couldn't stand keeping it on the whole night and switched back to the Airfit P10 mask for the rest of my restless night of supposed CPAP titration. Not a good sleep study. It produced nothing except the information that I now don't sleep well at night (after 2 nights of trying to sleep there). I get most of my sleep during daylight hours, which is not ideal but better than no sleep at all. The prescription for my new machine is based on two prior sleep studies in which titration went well, 2 and 5.5 years ago.

Thank you for any suggestions. I am going to the DME's office, to increase the chances of seeing masks with which I may not be familiar.

I'm surprised that the Breeze does seem to be available. Two years ago, it definitely was not. Since then, I got the Airfit P10, which is lightweight and has great nasal pillows (great fit for me and durable). Just wondering if there are any other models out there that anyone might suggest, since I am due for a new mask, per insurance, and am going to meet with the DME to get a new machine (after 5.5 years).

The Swift FX pillow set up is extremely minimal and light weight and felt like I didn't have anything on my face at all when I was trying it. Unfortunately, I couldn't prevent myself from mouth breathing and couldn't use the Swift FX. You might want to try it on at the DME's.
