I get up too early!
I get up too early!
The Cpap machine is working wonderfully. However, I get up too early. I wish I could sleep until 7:00Am. I am getting up 5:00Am, sometimes even earlier.
Re: I get up too early!
Well, you don't need as much sleep now - how many hours are you getting and how early do you go to bed?

I get around 6 hours sleep. I really would like between 8 or 9. I need it.Julie wrote:Well, you don't need as much sleep now - how many hours are you getting and how early do you go to bed?

Re: I get up too early!
Do you feel rested after 6 hours? If not, can you go back to sleep with CPAP? The machine doesn't set my sleep hours. I get up when I feel sufficiently rested. I might have had trouble sleeping the full amount of time I needed when I started therapy, but I soon adjusted to getting as much sleep as I could or needed with CPAP.

Re: I get up too early!
To expand on this point, one of the best nights I had on cpap was after only 4 hours of sleep. But the quality was excellent and I felt energetic although I would still get tired from not enough sleep. Still, it was better than the periods where I slept longer and the quality stunk.MarylandCPAPer wrote:Do you feel rested after 6 hours? If not, can you go back to sleep with CPAP? So the question to ask, is how functional do you feel after 6 hours and if you don't, make sure your therapy is optimized by looking at sleepyhead software and also look into optimal sleep hygiene.

Re: I get up too early!
When I can go back to sleep I feel very fortunate. Usually I can't. And I do feel rested when I get up early. But later in the day I get a bit tired. If I could only get 9 hours sleep I could take on the world!MarylandCPAPer wrote:Do you feel rested after 6 hours? If not, can you go back to sleep with CPAP? The machine doesn't set my sleep hours. Re: I get up too early!
For the most part, I rarely sleep through the whole night. It is most common for me to sleep 3 to 4.5 hours and then wake up.
Trying at that time you just go back to sleep doesn't work. I need to get up, take a bathroom break check some items I need to track, and then after 30 our 40 mins head back to bed to finish up sleep for the night.
I will typically get another 3 to 4.5 hours for a normal total of around 7 to 8 hours sleep.
I am lucky to not have to need or use an alarm clock to wake up. I sometimes feel my worst when forced waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle. So most of the time I am waking up at the end of a 90 cycle or some combination of them.
Example, I just woke up near 4am after going to sleep around 10pm. If I got up for the day now, I'd do ok for the most part but would be tired later in the afternoon. Right now I am sitting on the edge of the bed using my phone to write this before I head to the bathroom.
I will be back to sleep by 4:30 and be back up between 7 and 8 o'clock.

Re: I get up too early!
When I have to get up too freakin' early, I often feel like an afternoon nap.
Since I am retired, I GO FOR IT! It's wonderful!
Naps count as therapy time as long as you use the machine. WIN, WIN, WIN!
