How long will ResMed support the S9 machines?

Post by kaiasgram » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:02 pm

I thought I saw something recently on the forum about how long we'll still be able to purchase supplies (hose, filters, humidifier parts, etc.) for the S9 machines but I can't find the info now. I'm thinking about buying a backup machine and I haven't decided whether to move into the A10 line or save a little $$ by buying another S9.

Most mfg will make parts up to 7 years from date of last ship as part of US requirements. The a8 has been discontinued quote some time, Not sure how long and there are parts still available for them.

The a9 series was quite popular doubt it will be any time soon that there are issues getting stuff for them.

I can't say, but, given the humidifier parts available below:

I wouldn't worry about it

Wow, cpap.com is still selling the S7 and S8 humidifiers, not just the parts. OK, I won't worry. Thanks.

Resmed supplies "medical devices", which means they get medical device support. That strongly implies that parts etc are available for a lot longer than for typical "consumer electronics devices"!

S6 parts are still readily available, so you don't need to be concerned about S9 support

Often, if a manufacturer goes out of business, or closes down production lines,
it will sell the tooling for popular equipment to a third party, so parts may be available for decades.
If there is on-going demand, the parts will be somewhere for sale.
Capitalism thrives.
