I got the Hybernite set up yesterday and installed for last night.
Rainout is well under control and neither chamber ran dry although I didn't have a long night.
Here is a link to the prior thread:

Following the Hybernite advice, I did not install the hose wrap on the main hose but did leave it on the Oracle mask hose.
Some observations:
I turned on the Respironics pre-heat, the HC-150 pre-heat, and had the Hybernite turned on early.
That's too much. Felt like the inside of a really warm sauna. In a few minutes, that cleared so I think cutting back just a little will do the trick.
Even with a shortened night (5 1/2 hours), the Respironics chamber would have run dry so the double chambers are needed.

Re: External Humidity Revisited - Part 3 HC-150
When I had my Hybernite I didn't use a hose cover but I once left it under the bed covers for a very short period of time to sort of mimic what would happen with a hose cover and I quickly abandoned that experiment. The air got WAY too warm and it was in the winter when the bedroom was cold. There's a reason for the specific instructions NOT to use a hose cover on that hose. Talk about being in a sauna.....
Funny thing though...the Aussie hose people say it's okay to use a hose cover on their heated hose....or at I think I read that they did.

Re: External Humidity Revisited - Part 3 HC-150
Hi Pugsy. Now that I have found a "working" solution, I'm going to pursue two additional strategies. This meets the immediate need so additional approaches are in order but they may take time to work out.
First, a simpler solution to the one described by AlabamaAl in a prior post. Since I now know the volume needed, the same approach with a smaller chamber seems to be workable.
Second, making an "extension cord" that allows the use of the Respironics heated hose. This is desireable since Respironics seems to have thermostatic control over the heating element contrasted to Hybernite's "It is just on" approach.

Re: External Humidity Revisited - Part 3 HC-150
I've found that during the winter months my Hibernite doesn't keep my air inflow warm enough for me (tho it is warm enough to prevent rainout). To solve that problem, I just tuck half the hose under my covers... that works great and keeps the air warm. I don't have heavy covers on my bed or heating in the room, so maybe that explains why it is generally more comfortable for me than it was for Pugsy. Conversely, in the summer months I replace the Hibernite unit with just a plain no-name hose with a fleece cover on it - I bought the fleece cover from forum member SleepGuy who owns Pur-Sleep. BTW, my PR S1 humidifier is set at 4 (out of five).

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: External Humidity Revisited - Part 3 HC-150
Two days into the new setup with the Hybernite hose and all is going well.
I wake up in the morning and the dry mouth is gone - that's good news.
I've started to collect water usage data to see what kind of setup might be needed along the lines of AlabamaAl's setup. I ordered a set of connectors per AlabamAl from McMaster-Carr and I'm assembling some transparent plastic containers to try. His original container from WalMart might be modifiable to stop the air leaks and would do the job.
Only two data points so far but they are exactly the same. 72.1 mL per hour of water used to create humidity in the system. For over eight hours, my target sleep time, that looks like about 570 ml. The Respironics chamber only holds 325 mL while the HC150 chamber (HC325) only holds 450 mL so going it alone with either doesn't get me there.
That means that an external chamber of some sort would be needed for either device if it were the only water source. An extra 300 mL for the Respironics alone or an extra 150 mL if the HC150 alone.
