Nuvigil vs Provigil

Post by Noctuary » Wed May 27, 2015 6:15 pm

I tried Provigil, but it didn't do a thing. Would it be worth my time or $ to try Nuvigil? I'm also thinking of Sudafed (half).

I think this is something you definitely should speak to a doctor about.

If you are at the point of juggling drugs, (druggling?)
you might be ready to try behavioral modification for insomnia.
It takes time and effort, but to be free of the drugs could be amazing!

Here you go:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Nuvigil ... 8&oe=utf-8

Agree that you should check with your doctor but while waiting to do so, hopefully you will find a site that is helpful.

Discussion quoted is on the EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness) of narcolepsy, but principles may apply:

"3.3. Modafinil/armodafinil . . . are best taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If headaches occur, temporary adjustment of the dose is usually all that is required. Most patients require the maximum approved dosage (400 mg approved and sometimes up to 600 mg per day for modafinil), but some patients do quite well even on low doses such as 100 mg of modafinil or 50 mg of armodafinil. In combination with sodium oxybate, they have been shown to enhance the improvement of EDS. Among patients taking modafinil/armodafinil who may be required to perform demanding tasks during the course of their daily activities, a supplementary late afternoon dose of a short-acting stimulant, such as Dexedrine or regular methylphenidate, can be used."

Doc should help clarify, since doc should be fully involved, of course. Just passing on in case helps with some ideas for an approach.
