Does PSMin on a ASV help with OSA too?
Does PSMin on a ASV help with OSA too?
Does PSMin on a ASV help with OSA too? I know EPAP is the setting used for OSA. Is it significant?
Re: Does PSMin on a ASV help with OSA too?
On a respironics ASV machine like the 960,
MinEpap is the pressure setting that primarily deals with Hypopneas.
MinEpap+PSMin gives the equivalent of IPAP on a non-ASV machine and deals with OSA events.
Both can vary as your breathing needs change.

Re: Does PSMin on a ASV help with OSA too?
ASV units have a dizzying array of settings. This can make it very, very difficult for a new user to get the settings correctly set to address their symptoms. If you need a CPAP unit, you would be better served if you purchased a CPAP or BiPAP unit.
Just my humble opinion. I'ld rather see you spend your money on something you can get working right away with the correct settings for you.

Dave5059,
First I want to say that I agree with what JohnBFisher says: ASV machines are very complex and they are designed to treat a number of not very common forms of sleep disordered breathing.
Have you had a sleep test done? Do you know whether you just have plain old obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is best treated by an ordinary CPAP/APAP/Bi-level instead of an ASV? Or do you have a diagnosis of central sleep apnea (CSA) or complex sleep apnea (CompSA) or some other breathing problem that warrants the full power of an ASV?
