Hose size, mask type and pressure settings
I searched but came up with too much filler so I'm going to ask. I just switched to a 15 tube/hose (yeah, I'll bet if I searched for hose rather than tube but didn't think of that till now) and was wondering if this size hose which I had never realized was thinner, means I might have to change the top or bottom setting in the A-flex. I think I am at 13 to 17 now.
Also was curious if the thickness of the hose has any bearing on what type of mask should be used.
I really need to take over the SD card and load SH onto my laptop and do this myself.
Thanks!

Re: Hose size, mask type and pressure settings
there is a setting for hose type 15 or 22 mm ... in the setup menu
any mask can be used with any hose
any mask can be used with any hose
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Thanks. I did see that and changed to the 15 setting. I wasn't sure if the thinner hose was meant for certain masks so glad it's not an issue.grayghost4 wrote:there is a setting for hose type 15 or 22 mm ... in the setup menu

Re: Hose size, mask type and pressure settings
Size of hose also doesn't matter towards whatever Flex setting a person may or may not use. Doesn't matter at all.

Thanks. I'm still in awe of the little hoses for the nasal pillows! Then again I was using a Nasal Aire original a few months ago.Pugsy wrote:Size of hose also doesn't matter towards whatever Flex setting a person may or may not use. Doesn't matter at all.

Re: Hose size, mask type and pressure settings
hope. the *only* thing that the smaller hose buys you is a lighter hose.postitnote wrote:Also was curious if the thickness of the hose has any bearing on what type of mask should be used.
however, being smaller, it has more resistance to airflow, and so the blower has to compensate for that. and that's what the hose type setting is for.
I read somewhere that the slimline hoses aren't recommended for people with higher pressure bilevel machines, because the blower can't regulate the pressure changes as well with the smaller hose... and that's why resmed makes a climateline max (larger diameter heated hose).

That makes so much sense! I was wondering what change that setting would make if any.palerider wrote:

Re: Hose size, mask type and pressure settings
my experience with it was when I got a new machine, and forgot to change the default 'slimline' setting to 'regular'. I set my pressures, and I thought the machine was broken, because it was blowing harder than what I was used to.postitnote wrote:That makes so much sense!
