Re: Newbie Looking for 1st CPAP Machine (Apex or Philips)
I am familiar with the Philippines and the exorbitant prices of CPAP machines but can't you use a Balikbayan box from the US? For the price they charge you for an unknown machine you would be able to get a brand new Airsense 10 and a decent second hand S9 as a spare and you will still be ahead with ...

Re: Using CPAP on an Airplane
I do exactly the same..... just carry with me a doctor prescription that says I have to use it every time I fall asleep. I was lucky ( or they were) because no crew has ever asked me to shut it off. I use the carry bag to put my machine on top if I am forced to live the unit on the floor ( to keep i...

Re: Newbie can't seem to sleep more than 4-5 hours
It happened to me as well, for the first couple of months I couldn't sleep more the 2-3 hrs at the time and would get up after approx. 5 hrs of sleep. A couple of months later and after having found the right adjustment with my mask I managed to log in 5-6 hrs in a go and I would say after 4 months ...

Re: The Autopap Chase
My pneumologist is absolutely convinced that only resmedd has got the right algorithms for an auto pap infact she refused to prescribe any auto machine unless is a resmed machine. If I want to buy another brand she will insist is a straight cpap. Wether she is right or not I don't have the experienc...

Re: New Airsense 10 CPAP
Love your cigar in the picture..... I am an aficionado as well Beside I have been using an Airsense Autoset since last year feb and I love it. Thru the clinical menu I have also switched off the ramp and I use the machine most of the time without the humidifier unless I go to extremely dry places wh...

Re: What do you do with old machines?
If you don't keep it as a backup, I would probably look for a place where I could donate it. There are organizations that need medical equipment. Let them know the amount of use and go from there. It kept you alive for years, it can keep someone else alive. John Totally agree with John if the machi...

Re: Brand New and Terrified
Funny enough ! I and my wife slept in separate bedrooms since we started dating because of unbearable snoring. Then after a few years I finally managed to hook myself to the hose and my life just turned 360 degree around and for the better. No more hang over, no more eye bags, no more embarrassment ...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel
IATA rules allows as carry on items, without counting toward your allowance, for portable medical electronic devices (Automated External Defibrillators (AED), Nebuliser, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). The best way would be to carry one of those hard top trolley with wheels and pack insi...

Re: A tip for travelers (flying)
I travel ( fly ) very often ( 2-4 times a month)and always with my CPAP hand carried and yes from time to time you find the idiot who wants to look at your machine when going thru the X-ray. Most of the time they are curious, they have never seen anything like this, they have not been trained proper...

Re: Using CPAP in flight
I do fly very often on very long trips sometimes business but mostly in economy; At the beginning I tried to comply with the ( not very friendly ) airlines rules and just wouldn't bend into purchasing $500 extra heavy hand carry to power my unit. ( some airlines even require you to show the check in...

Re: How Long Before Your First Full Night's Sleep?
The first couple of months I would sleep 3hrs then wake up and most times would menage to sleep another 2 or 3 hrs after a wake interval of at least an hour, then things got better and after 4 months of treatment I won't wake up anymore and have a full night sleep. Of course at time I still get woke...

Re: Using CPAP in flight
I am about to take a 13 hrs flight with Ethiad and just found out they won't allow you to plug in the CPAP in flight but you would have to carry with you a dry cell battery pack to power your unit and that it should hold enough power to last 1.5 times the actual flight time.
