Hello CPAPTalkers,

Look out popular CPAP brands, there is a new kid on the block, and he'll sell you a CPAP so small you can wear it.

The rumor buzzing around our halls is that the new Hoffman Laboratories BreatheX CPAP is tentatively planned to be released in the middle or end of next week.

We have set up an interview with Hoffman Labs and welcome any questions you have about the product. This call for questions won't last long as we want to try to push out the interview ahead of the products release if possible.

Also, to head off a few questions I'd ask, the CPAP can be set to a max pressure of 12 cm/h2o, the battery lasts two nights and it works with most major CPAP masks (doesn't work with the ComfortCurve).

I notice the pressure only goes up to 12cm. Why is that?

Can the BreatheX operate from an AC power source?

If this is "totally" battery operated- Is their a seperate cost for the battery charger? How often will people have to replace the battery being that it is Lithium Ion? 12hours at 10cm? and a max pressure of 12cmwp? That is basically average or less than average pressure these days!

hi-- why should i want this other than to go camping? i'm not being a smart-ass here, but the benefits are not clear to me, and do i "run over" this machine in the middle of the nite?

I read it has a fixed ramp. Please elaborate on that. Fixed time? Fixed start pressure? And I am curious why choose to offer a fixed ramp when flexibility makes compliance easier?


Oh yes, why did you decide against exhalation relief? Would it wear out the battery too soon?

Also I have looked at the website and all the pictures are of people lying on their back. Could you post one of a someone demonstrating it in side lying???

I really love the idea of not being tied to the bed table, and it would be a great thing to have during power outages, and on those extended off grid vacations.

Looks to be geared to 'traveling' or napping in a chair/plane/trane/car. I can't imagine a side-sleeper being able to use it, even for a sofa-nap.

Like 3isles, I've seen your very nice BreatheX.com website, Tom Hoffman. I, too, would like to see pictures of someone using it while lying on their side. Both sides - person turned toward the hose and away from it.

Some time ago, in response to others asking to see a picture of the device being used in a side sleeping position, I recall your saying (either in a post or in the apneasupport.com chatroom) that you'd post such a picture on your website -- you jokingly added that it wouldn't be a picture of you. So.....when will a picture be up?

Kudos for thinking outside the box. I can imagine my getting one to use for catnaps sitting up, or as a passenger in a car, or during a power outage. But only if it's priced very inexpensively.

What was the reason for not making it capable of being plugged into the wall when battery power isn't needed? Do you plan to ever add that capability?
