Aussie hose? or maybe just fleece cover? Or nothing?

Post by chdurie2 » Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:17 pm

guys--

i don't get rainout, but the air coming through my hose/mask is freezing. yes, the plate of my humidifier is warm/hot (f&p h150.) i'm not into cpap-accessorizing just for the fun of it, but i was thinking last night and some other nights that it sure would be nice to get some warmer air running through. what do you all think?

you can't beat the aussie hose, it flat out works, warms the incoming air better than any fleece over the outside. You can't crank up your F&P to match the effectiveness of the aussie hose.

Well worth the money, uses a simple 12VDC plug-in power supply you purchase at Radio Shack after getting the unit. You can also use a 9VDC-800ma power supply, it runs a bit cooler than the 12VDC.

The hose comes with instructions on which power supply to get. Search here for aussie hose, look for complaints, you won't really find any.

Caroline, for about two weeks while I was trying out a BiPAP Pro machine, I did not have a humidifier. The machine didn't have one, and I had loaned my F&P heated humidifier to a friend to try.

After one night of unpleasantly cold air, using the BiPAP with a regular hose (plus hose cover) and no humidification, I got out my Aussie heated hose. The heated hose, even without any humidification going at all, did a wonderful job of knocking the chill off the incoming air. I was VERY glad to have the heated hose.

I agree. Sometimes I get my Aura on and when I'm ready to get into bed, I reach down and turn my machine on (rather than let it automatically turn on when I breathe). The air coming out of my heated hose is always warm (I do preheat it an hour or so while I'm reading in bed).

It feels great, well worth the cost of $100 - I just hope they last a long time because I can't afford the $100 on a regular basis.
