I am using the Ultra Mirage FF Mask. I have been trying to reduce the air leakage. However, I also increased the pressure. The mask seemed to seal fairly well with the pressures went up to 8cm, but above this it leaks more when I get above 10cm I am constantly tightening the headgear. I think I have got it too tight now. I have tried changing the 4 position forehead adjustment to. I have no large leaks on the data and my ave. leak is 35.2 and max. leak is 44.5%. What should one expect from this type of mask with pressures from 10-14cm? Maybe I have too high expectations. Thanks, for the help.

Guest I tried this mask first at a pressure of 14. All I can say is less than a week later I gave up and tried another mask. It didn't hold a seal and woke me up with foul sounds. If you need a full face mask then you may want to try the F&P 431 ff mask. I tried that next and found the seal held well. It didn't work for me as I felt i wasn't getting enough air, but that's a different issue. Luckily I was able to go another way and wound up with the Aura in the end. I LOVE IT!!!! I have no problems with leaks at all.
Best of luck,

Guest,
The UM FF needs to be worn somewhat loose. This allows the seal (thin rubber part of the cushion) to expand. There's a pamphlet that came with the mask that shows the "vent rate" chart. At 10 cm. the rate is about 37 or 38 (I read that as "leak rate"), so anything around that should be "normal". Over the last nine months my leak rate had been moving up in the low 40's, so I snugged mine up just a bit this weekend and got it (leak rate) down to about 39. It's not too tight and seems to be staying in place a little better through the night.
The numbers you listed don't sound all that bad to me.....actually pretty good. Each mask has it's own "leak rate" chart, so don't judge YOUR numbers by what you read from some of the other posters on this forum who use a nasal-type of mask.
Best wishes,
