Problem installing Encore Pro-Help Please!

Post by snoozalot » Thu Feb 09, 2006 8:14 pm

I am stumped! I downloaded version 1.5i from the Respironics website, per this forum, and ran the install program. I got the following error:

"Installer unable to start the MSDE SQL Server"

I went to the Microsoft site and installed SQL Express, using the default settings. I then uninstalled Encore Pro, and deleted all files related to it. I then restarted the pc and tried to re-install Encore Pro. Now I get the following error:

"Unable to create Encore Pro Database"

I have re- downloaded the software several times, and attempted to reinstall, but no luck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Note: I am using XP, and have also installed Net.Framework v2.

Many thanks!
Bob

Bob,

I'm using XP also and didn't have to install MS SQL because I believe the Encore Pro software automatically installs it. You might try uninstalling SQL Express before reinstalling Encore Pro again.

I didn't have to install Net.framework either.

Encore Pro is kinda quirky to install and get running. You won't regret getting it going though.

Regards,
Bill

from what I understand - derek's program needs NET framework to be able to access the data from encore pro - it isn't needed for encore pro but encore pro does need MS SQL and there is something you need to do to pass the password onto encore pro

have you gotten a smart card and installed the correct drivers?

check this thread for answers too - RG has covered a lot of the questions ppl have asked over time in it

Can't belive it. I had the same thing today. the same errors. I rolled back the PC to an earlier date and then reinstalled and all is working again. I had just restored this pc 3 days ago.

Good luck to you. lets hope your luck is better than mine with this problem

If you used these procedures you should get up and running. Try it and repost with error messages:

1. Download and install the free Respironics software from the respironics site below. For a new installation use Encore Pro version 1.5i (this installs both the software and MSSQL server).

http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... ge=[Encore]

2. Next you want to run the “setup.exe” driver file from “Sleepymans” website. You access it thru this forum and this is the page you will find it on: Just click on it and say SAVE OR RUN:

viewtopic.php?p=58727&highlight=free+do ... nics#58727

3. Last, you download and install MyEncore Ver. 1.5b.7 from Derek’s site (via this forum):

Note for #2). If for some reason you get error messages, you can try downloading a different driver via the 2factors site. You will have to uninstall the other driver first. (Supposedly they are the same driver, but sometimes computer glitches happen). Again, do NOT use the CD that came with the reader, go to this site and use “installers for Encore Pro” at the bottom of the screen:

Thanks for the posts.

When I try to use the link to "Sleepyman's" website, I get a message:

"Resources are Locked...." or something like that. So I can't get in to get the download.

Yes, it is locked. Weird.

Then go to the site in my "Note 2". At the bottom of the page is the same setup. Normally, you can access it from either place.

Try that.

So, are you saying that the "Installers for Encore Pro" on the 2factor site is the same as the "setup" file on Sleepyman's site?

Do you still need to install the "Driver" from 2factor site as well?

Thanks,
Bob

Yes, that's what I'm saying. I used to think you needed to run both of them, but evidently you only need to install either one of them.

No to the driver. Just install the Installers for Encore Pro. That should work for you.

I got the same error when I tried to install Encore Pro, specifically the Microsoft database part of the install. Tried everything. Over and over.

Eventually I found a thread somewhere (I believe in the FAQ in the appropriate section) that mentioned that you need to make sure that Windows XP, in the network settings, is set up to share files & printers.

This is regardless of whether you actually have a networked computer or will be using the software over the network.

And oddly enough, I use a wireless network and had it set to share files & printers, but I couldn't get the database to install until I had the non-wireless local area network setting set to share file and printers-- even though it's disabled. This makes no sense, but I did get the install to work after I did that. (Believe me, I tried every permutation under the sun).

I think there's more specifics in a thread in the FAQ under MyEncore, EncorePro, etc. called "problem solved" or something like that. At least I think that's where I found it. A forum search on relevant terms might turn it up too. (I'm on my way out or I'd look myself).

I also had all sorts of problems with Encore Pro installing. It even wanted a server password that I didn't have. I cut my loses and just wiped the system and started over. It took less time and was due for one anyway.
I then installed it and Myencore pretty much like Linda3032 did and its working great.

Can you be a little more elaborate on what kind of errors jake?

Someone should be able to install a purchased piece of software without having to redo OS.

I have been trying remotely to help someone install what they just bought at cpap.com and was delivered today. They got errors about DBUpdate and Dalphin (don't know what that second one is).

I have version 1.4 that I bought from cpap.com last fall and didn't have these problems. I assume they received 1.5.

Thanks in advance

Does CPAP.com have the 1.5 version? The one I saw was 1.4

Linda,

It appears so - I was told they got 2 disks - when I bought 1.4 in November it was only one with the smart card drivers on the encore pro CD - they also got this SA password message on trying to install it which I didn't get (I am also running XP). To the best of my knowledge they thought they were buying 1.4.
