Does anybody here know how to access the Encore Pro info in the MS SQL database? I've tried a half dozen different programs with the ability to copy and convert the MS SQL data to Excel so I that could see the raw data rather just the summary stuff available from Encore Pro and MyEncore. I couldn't get any of them to even log into the SQL server.
Anybody got a clue as to what it takes to log into the MS SQL server?
Regards,
Bill

Derek was discussing this with Mikesus about a year ago. He managed to read the SQL data and uses it in My Encore.
Do a search for their posts (e.g. mssql or sql in the subject and Derek as author) and it might lead you where you want to go.

Duh!
Thanks, ozij. Mike tells me that the database can be accessed directly via Excel, so I'll try that.ozij wrote:Derek was discussing this with Mikesus . . .
Naturally, I don't have Excel currently installed on the same machine with Encore but hopefully can get it installed this evening.

Boston-Guest how did you manage to log into the MSSQL server? That's where I get stopped.
I installed Encore Pro on a new PC last night which already had Excel installed and I attempted to access the database. When I got the login screen I typed in localhost and checked Windows login (which doesn't require a password). No joy! I got the same old message of "server not found or connection refused".
I set up the database without a password so why is the connection being denied? I'm wondering whether it's possible to set up Encore Pro with a password. That might enlighten me about where the problem is.
A little later I attempted login on my main computer with another database access program which produces logging files and found that the program is in fact accessing the database but getting bounced back out. Here's what the logging file produced:
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - ? [100] Microsoft SQLServerAgent version 8.00.2039 (x86 unicode retail build) : Process ID
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - ? [100] Microsoft SQLServerAgent version 8.00.2039 (x86 unicode retail build) : Process ID 848

2006-02-07 21:14:01 - ? [310] 1 processor(s) and 382 MB RAM detected
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - ? [339] Local computer is BILL running Windows NT 5.1 (2600) Service Pack 1
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - ? [129] SQLAgent$ENCOREPRO starting under Windows NT service control
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - + [260] Unable to start mail session (reason: No mail profile defined)
2006-02-07 21:14:01 - + [396] An idle CPU condition has not been defined - OnIdle job schedules will have no effect
This tells me that the SQL agent has started but then stops because "No mail profile defined"? Huh? I have no idea what that's about. Any ideas?

Bill
