About to purchase Encore Pro,,,,a few questions...

Post by snoozie_suzy » Wed Feb 01, 2006 12:44 pm

Hello
I noticed in the software section of CPAP.com that there is both Encore Pro software and Smart card reader, and Encore Data management software. Does the Data management software also have the reader? Do people that have the software typically order both packages, the Encore Pro and smart card reader AND the Data Management software or one or the other?

Also I have read posts of people ordering smart card readers from 2factors? is that the Smart card reader, and if so, is it cheaper on 2factors than cpap.com?

A little confused here. Any comments or suggestions would be great.

Suzy

Incase people are wondering, I have put in an order from my insurance company to switch my CPAP to an Auto Pap. But in my profile it still lists me as having CPAP only. I figure I will update my profile once I get the machine!

encore pro is the software for the respironics machines (remstar) not the resmed ones - which machine are you getting?

then you need to obtain encore pro and a smart card reader

the $199 package at cpap.com (that is what it was this fall when I got it) has both

you can get by cheaper as some people have bought a card reader from Hong Kong at 2factors (approx $ 30) and obtained the software at either cpap.com (it was $99 this fall) or downloaded it from the resperonics website

you might find a lot of information if you look at this thread or do a search on this site

Thank you Jim. That was awesome all the links you sent to me. I truly appreciate it. I will try what you have suggested. I probably will have tons of questions when I get the software, but you seem quite computer savy so hopefully you can help me along .

Hi, I just setup the same thing... but save yourself some money, as the new version of Encore Pro 1.5 is free here...

http://software.respironics.com/updates ... XP2000.exe

The version of MyEncore that works with Encore Pro v1.5 here...

And the correct reader (DT-3500 USB) $49 + shp of $7 to the East Coast in 2 days from this company in the US...

Hope this helps, Howard

You'll also need to download the respironics driver for the Smart Card reader from the 2factors.com website. My understanding is that this is a unique driver and the only one that works with Encore Pro.

Regards,
Bill

P.S. I also ordered my card reader from Secure Tech Peripherals and got it in 2 days.

It takes about 10 days if you order from 2factors. They are in Hong Kong and are the ones that manufacture the readers. They ship USPS. You have to pay them through paypal, like you do on ebay. Their price is $24.60 for the DT3500 and $6 shipping for a total of $30.60. So, if you have 8 days to burn, you can save the $25 difference in the prices. Also, download the Respironics Encore Pro 1.5 for free. I bought it for $199 and that was 1.4. I'm running the 1.5 now myself. So you can be in software/reader business for either $31 or $56 that cost me $199 plus shipping. (I purchased another reader from 2factors too)
