New to Forum... question about MyEncore

Post by Hlynk » Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:33 pm

Hello, I wanted to intro myself... name is Howard, I'm 56, and a very new user of a REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP, REMstar Heated Humidifier, and a ResMed Ultra Mirage full face mask. I'm about 2 weeks into using these devices, and thankfully seem to be adjusting to it Ok, without too many problems; I definitely feel better during the day. I am having issues with mask leakage at higher pressures, but I am going to try and adjust for a better fit without tightening too much. I also have downloaded the Encore Pro v1.5i software, and gotten the DT3500 reader working... in fact was able to download and study my sleep details from the smartcard today. I also downloaded and installed MyEncore, but get an error msg when starting it up, that it can't open the SQL database. Does anybody know if it should work with the Encore Pro 1.5 version? Glad to have found this forum! ... Howard

Hi...just began using my Remstar Auto (heated humidifier and Resmed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask)...we're CPAP twins! Downloaded my first night this morning!!

As to your difficulty with MyEncore. I believe you need to be on the SQL server....for me it is an icon of a computer tower with a white circle in the corner with either a red square (stopped) or a green arrow (on). Click it and make sure you are logged into the server; then MyEncore works.

Hope that helps.

Howard, if you haven't seen this already...

Here's a link to myencore15b7.msi which seems to fix the problem of MyEncore running with EncorePro V1.5 :

Thanks to everyone for suggestions for MyEncore fix... especially to blankstare for the link. The new version there...
http://lewiston.mit.edu/myencore/myencore15b7.msi
was the solution! I'm going to read the forum archives a bit more, as most other questions I have at this point probably have already been answered (most likely over and over!) Good sleep to all... Howard

Oooops! Forgot to login on reply above, so appear as Guest. Todd, how do you like the combination? So far, I'm really happy with my choices, as I can sleep the night through already, with very little problem. I adjusted to the mask on my face much more quickly than I imagined I would.

I am self diagnosed, with the help of my wife's frantic and worried descriptions of my sleeping habits... lapses in breathing, snores, gasps, snorts, etc. A little online research made it very clear that I had OSA, and that CPAP was the only way to go. A bit more research led me to the choices I made as to equipment, which so far I'm pleased with. Since I live in a rural area, and didn't get a sleep study, the Auto adjusting unit was the obvious choice.

My father, who died unexpectedly in his sleep at age 62 (which I used to think was old!), made all the same loud noises at night as long as I can remember back when I was a kid. Too bad there wasn't the knowledge of, and treatment for this condition back then that there is now...

Howard, how did you get a prescription for a PAP machine? Your family doctor give you one?

Good for you, Howard! Good for you for taking charge of your health in a very proactive, well researched way. And good for your wife for calling the problem to your attention.

I was about two years older than you are now when I embarked on the same course - self diagnosis and self treatment. Worked extremely well for me. Hope it does for you, too.

If you get a chance to have a sleep study in the future, that would be a good idea. In the meantime, happy auto-papping!

Hi Jerry,
Actually a friend who is an MD. I explained the situation to him and he had no problem with writing me the script. I did have to pay for the equipment myself though...
