Ordering from 2factors.com question

Post by GrumpyInKC » Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:31 pm

I'm trying to order a card reader from 2factors.com. I signed up, clicked the buy button, checked out from my IE browser. I got a confirmation email from 2factors.com thanking me for my order but they never asked for any billing information.

So will they are going to send me a request to pay via PayPal to the email address that I signed up to 2factors.com with, or do they just send a PayPal request to PayPal that I didn't receive (because my email address has changed)?

Do you have a Pay Pal account? That's how they bill and how you pay.. I ordered one about 1 1/2 weeks ago and had a difficult time logging in but finally got through. When I received my confirmation email I got 3! All with different confirmation numbers. I emailed 2factors expressing my desire NOT to own three. I didn't get an answer but I kept checking my credit card. Fortunately i was only billed once, through PayPal, which I don't have an account.

My card reader arrived today but I wasn't home so I have to pick it up at the post office tomorrow. I am looking forward to spending this weekend getting eveything up and running.

Good luck..

That is precisely my experience with them. (not sure there's more than one of "them"). I ordered the card Nov 16, got the following automated response:

"Dear valued customer, Thank you for purchasing our products. Your business is very important to us; please refer to the following for your order. If there is any discrepancy feel free to contact our customer service representative for the amendment."

(Note the complete absence of any specific payment information).
Sent them an email on Nov 20:

"Can you please tell me the status of the following order? I have not heard anything from 2Factors about this."

Got a reply the next day:

"Hi Richard, Sorry for late. Usually, customer will pay online with paypal. By the way, we just send you a paypal request money for $126.3 It is included $6.8 for shipment. It takes 2 weeks for the postal service. Best Regards, Lawrence"

The PayPal request arrived almost simultaneously with the note. That was the first clue as to how to pay them. The initial order did not indicate how to pay them, nor exactly how much. Kind of strange, as orders go. I paid them with paypal. Got the card reader about a week later.

But oh well. My life is now meaningful.

Well, here's my update....

First I tried to sent a reply to the first order to sales@2factors.com and explained that I hadn't received any payment request, etc. and asked for help placing the order. I waited a few days and received no response.

Then (while at work) I decided to create a new account and order again... this time there were new buttons on the bottom of the checkout page 1 for paying online and 1 for paying offline. Problem is there wasn't any explanation as to what the options meant. I selected payment online which presented my with the paypal request and login button... only when I tried to log into PayPal I found that the firewall at work prevented me from logging onto PayPal. So I figured when I got home I would "checkout" again and pay via pay-pal. No luck although 2factors allows you to see your order there is no way to edit it or "checkout" again... So I ordered a third time using the "online payment" option again and logged into paypal and payed. 1 day later I received a shipment confirmation from Paypal.

I've still haven't received any communication over the first two orders or email in over 7 days. Bottom line if you don't make it through the payment process then your order will just sit in limbo.

Well, we will see what happens. I finally was able to complete a transaction through 2Factors, at least I think I did. It took multiple tries like others are talking about. I kept being bounced back to login page, even though I was logged in. I paid through PayPal, AND have a receipt email. Now the wait begins. Thanks everyone for all the help.

Ric - you paid $126.30 ??????????? 2 Factors charges $30.80 which includes shipping from Hong Kong. Tell me you didn't pay $126 please.

no and yes

I should've edited that out, maybe. No, I paid the regular low low low price for the card ($24). But yes, I bought some of their other toys.

OFF TOPIC: The fingerprint scanner is really cool, I gave it to my running club for getting in the door, no need to bring the stoooopid ID card, just give them the finger. (right index preferably). My club has about 800 members, and this year they required a barcoded ID card to get in the door at 6 am sunday mornings. Really annoying when my running speedo has no pockets for ID cards and such.

BACK ON TOPIC: I noticed the 2factors page has LANDING and SLIDING versions of their USB Desktop smart card readers, with identical pictures, different price. The confusion just got more confusing. One more way to goof up. I will guess that the LANDING version is so that I can just THROW the card in the general directions of the card reader. (?) I better get one.
