Aura Vs. Breeze

Post by sleepyred » Sun Dec 18, 2005 6:38 am

I have modified my poll thanks to ozji. (Kind of hard to answer 2 questions!)

In a recent poll, users prefer breeze over swift for quietness.

Which do you like better for comfort? - Aura or Breeze?

TIA for voting!

sleepyred - those are two different questions!

My Breeze leaks less
My Aura slips more, leaks more, but is, physically, more comfortable.

Wish I could have both in one mask....

O.

I've not tried the Aura yet but I like the Breeze a lot. It took quite some time before I found the sweet spot in the wide range of adjustments that it allows. (removed the outrigger and hooked the straps to the fixed strap holes).

Now that it's set up nicely, it's a great mask. Quiet too. Most mornings when I wake up I feel like I'm not wearing a mask at all.

Kemosabe,

You are very right! Four adjustments on the Breeze, 5 including the placement of the straps: three sliders, one rotary, and the strap placement.

I had the front and top sliders retracted completely and the back slider on 3 holes. After a few nights, my nose was getting sore: the pillows were not going into my nares at the correct angle, regardless of the rotary adjustment of the plenum that holds the pillows. The straps were all the way down on the front, using the little clip on the top slider.

I spent an hour configuring it in front of a mirror.
Results:
  • 1) Back slider showing one hole
    2) Top slider fully extended (but one click back when on my back)
    3) Front slider at 6 marks visible (about an inch)
    4) Plenum holding the pillows, rotated as required to enter the nares straight in
    5) Straps on the little clip moved all the way up (I think it would work okay with the straps attached to the top fixture)
Much more comfortable with the above adjustments

My Swift, on the other hand, you just put on, adjust the top and back strap a bit, rotate the pillow barrel as required to enter the nostrils for a good seal and you are home. So, why not the Swift all the time? I'm still having a problem with the noise it makes on inhalation and the cheek straps bother me a bit.

Tough decision. I realize that this topic is about the Breeze and the Aura, but I don't have my Aura, yet. Coming soon, I hope.

Was Aura called something different or was it sold by another name?

I think that Aura was an old name for the Aeomed Headrest and it also had another name sometime in the past.
It is no longer available under any name though. Discontinued totally.

I think the Breeze is still available but rumor control has it that it may also be slated for being discontinued.

Once again, I remind you all:
Once you find a mask that really works--stock up.
You never know when it will be no more.
Self-preservation is NOT abuse!
