Snuggle hose cover vs Heated hose ?

Post by pokey » Sat Dec 17, 2005 4:55 pm

Need advice on hose cover for rainout problem. Try to make do with $18 Snuggle or dont bother and go straight to the heated hose for $89. Tried keeping hose under the blanket with poor results. Any input appreciated.

pokey, my advice would be:

go straight to the heated hose for $89

It's a sure shot, so might as well put the $18 (plus shipping?) toward the heated hose (with shipping included.)

Heated hose has its own cover included.

I just ordered another heated hose for myself today. Nothing wrong with the one I've been using for over a year. It's just that I like it so much I want a backup. Don't want to ever have to be without one.

apap and heated hose?

hey rested gal, I think I've read that you have used a 420e auto. Have you used a heated hose on that unit? Do they make heated hoses for an apap?
thanks Gary

Gary,

Yes they do make a hose with the internal pressure sensor. It's the same $89 that the plain one is. BTW, if you order the SZ3, you can also plug the the heated hose into the back of the 420E (in line) and save the cost of the Radio Shack power supply.

pokey,

This may depend on the extent of your rain out problem. I had minor rain out a few nights, but I dont like the very warm air blowing up my nose so I have my humidifier either off (with water), or on low; 1-2 setting. I bought a hose cover off ebay delivered for like $12. No rain out problems since. It also depends on your temp and humidity in your bedroom when you sleep. Many variables. If your rain out is pretty serious and you use your humidifier on a higher setting I would take rested gals advice and go straight to the heated hose.

My family was wrapping presents to ship, I tried wrapping my hose in some bubble wrap. It worked for me and was basically free. I think the air bubbles give more insulation than the plain hose covers. It stopped my rain out problem.

It sounds like you already have a rain out problem, so unless its a VERY marginal situation, I agree that you might as well go straight to the heated hose.

Make sure you specify that you have a 420E. I have been using the heated hose on the 420E for a couple of months and used the other "model" of heated hose on the Remstar auto for a year or so before that.

The hose made for the 420E has a sensor line built in and piggybacks off the 420E Power supply so you don't need anything more and traveling with it is REALLY nice and compact.
