Problem installing card reader
Problem installing card reader
I just worked several hours to finally get the Mako reader to work.
Encore was unable to find the reader even with the usb checkbox selected.
This is how I finally got it to work:
Went to device manager and uninstalled the reader.
Unpluged the reader.
Used regedit to delete the Mako entry from the local machine hive of the registry.
Downloaded and ranthe encorepro driver installer from the 2factors web site. I only say it on one of the pages. It is for encore, not the standard installer.
rebooted.
plugged in the reader.
Once it is working you can uninstall and reinstall encore and MSQL if you need to for some reason without killing the reader.
I hope this helps some of you. You have all helped me more than you know.

Guest, that is what I did, too, except I did a restore after I tried to install using the CD that came with the reader, instead of going to the registry.Anonymous wrote:I just worked several hours to finally get the Mako reader to work.

The important thing, I think, is to go to the 2Factors site and get the 'installer for Encore Pro' and as you say, that only shows up on http://www.2factors.com/index.php?sp=&p ... s=&lang=en
The rest of your instructions are the same as a post I made on another topic.

different problem
I am installing Encore Pro, it's stuck on "STATUS: The database engine (MSDE) for Encore Pro is being installed. This could take 5 minutes or more to complete."
(I'm on a 3.2 Ghz pentium running XP and 2 Gb ram, seems like plenty of horsepower for this.) No other applications running. I even shut down THIS browser, didn't help.
It's been sitting there for an hour. Any suggestions? anybody else get stuck on that?
GRRRRRRRRRRRR!
thx!

Turns out it was a file lock issue, the classical "deadly embrace"*. I halted some processes that were competing with the SQL install and it took right off. If anybody has the same problem you can "surgically" halt some select processes using the task manager, or simpler, just reboot, the locks will resolve themselves.
*(ps. this happens all the time in "real life", (whatever THAT is). Mom is cleaning the kitchen to kill time while waiting for dad so they can go somewhere, while dad is watching football waiting for mom to finish cleaning the kitchen... which NEVER ends.)

I'm just going to explain the steps I did when installing ...
Installed Encore Pro. That part worked no problem.
I didn't even HAVE the card reader yet so Encore Pro only got started once just to see if it actually worked and at that time I added myself as a patient.
Card reader arrived.
Installed Sleepyman's file... it's called setup.exe. That went fine.
Installed the CD that came with the 2factors.com card reader.
It auto-ran an installation for my WindowsXP. Still no problems thus far.
Plugged in the card reader
WindowsXP detected new hardware and magically it was ready for use.
Started Encore Pro, clicked on my patient name, downloaded info from card.
Got an alert here that name on card doesn't match patient info (name on card is blank... do we need to do anything about that or just click the "Continue anyways" button?)
It brought in the data from the card.
At first I only saw compliance data. I kept looking around and found a csreen where I could get a "detailed report" or some such... I'll try to write down the exact steps that got me on that screen. It was something simple that I overlooked a few times before spotting it.
Anyways... I got a nice 7 day report with daily reports and summary. 12 pages.
Now... is there a CHECKBOX or RADIO BUTTON that tells it not to erase the card each time? Or do I have to run a .reg file that I saw mentioned in another thread about this?
woo-hoo! It works!

'Not' to Erase
yardbird,
Sorry. You said, '...not to erase'.
I downloded from my card for the second time this morning, but I think the data from the previous downlaod was still available.
I'll check in the morning.

Jerry,
I don't think Yardbird WANTS to erase his card, I think he wants to change his settings so that the card doesn't auto-erase each time he downloads data. Unless they've update Encore Pro 1.5 to be able to do this using the menu choice you were speaking of, I would think it would still be the same process.
In which case, yardbird, yes, there have been many threads that state how to do this. But since it's easy to describe, I'll tell ya here, too:
Go to: My Computer --> C: --> Program Files --> Respironices --> Encore Pro --> Utilities --> Don't erase data after download (Double-click this file, and you're all set!)
If they DID change it so you can set this option within Encore Pro itself, that would be awesome!
