Installing MyEncore - SQL Server Problems

Post by Jerry69 » Sat Nov 26, 2005 9:38 am

Hi, folks,

I downloaded and installed EncorePro, Ver. 1.5.

Image

No problems.

Then, I downloaded and installed 'MyEncore.' Evidently, the correct version of the '.NET Framework' was in place on my harddrive, as 'MyEncore' installed successfully.

When I tried to run 'MyEncore' I got these screens:

I don't know what to do to satisfy the MyEncore requirements on these screens. Any ideas?

I've ordered the card reader from Two-Factor and I think I have the right driver downloaded from this site and also from Two-Factor. They appear to be the same files:

From Two Factor:

and from this site:

Should I execute one of the driver files, now, or wait and plug the card reader in to see if it will run without a driver on Win XP Home?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jerry,

What password did you use when you setup EncorePro?

When I installed EncorePro, I decided not to enter any password so that there wouldn't be any issues. Derek had exressed concern over the password issue with the new version so I decided the best way to avoid it was not to use any password.

You could reinstall EncorePro and don't put in a password when it asks.

I would wait until you have the card reader before you install the drivers.

ALSO, MyEncore will not work until you download data into EncorePro from the card reader...that's how data gets into the database that MyEncore reads from.

All,

When I rebooted the SQL Server Manager looked like this:

So, the re-boot seems to have taken care of the SQL Server, but the password is still an issue. I didn't supply a password when I set up EncorePro. But, MyEncore is asking for one.

I have not downloaded any data into EncorePro, as I do not have a card reader yet. Is this the problem, you think?

Jerry,

You apparently didn't read the last e-mail I sent you last night.

You NEED your card reader and downloaded data.

I too am having problems. Maybe someone can help a bit.
1- got used Remstar auto with smartcard.
the person never used the software or downloader her info.

2- I got a dell keyboard with SC reader, but it would not read. Ordered and got the Mako from hong kong.

3- added myself as patient and skipped the password section.
tried to download- looked like it was downloading, but in about 15 secaonds, it flashed "cant connect to device"
went to preferences and it was on serial connection on com1 port.

4- changed to usb pref and attempted- immediately falshed that "smart card reader not detected"

5 go back and switch back and forth, but cannot read data.

went back to original keyboard thinking maybe it was attempting to read from the Dell keyboard- no difference.
6- went to linked site and downloaded new and same thing happened.

Derek? any help?

Doggone, Den, tell me again. I've got to have some downloaded data to get rid of the 'password' screen?

Okay, okay. I'll try it when I get the card reader from Hong Kong.

Thanks,

Hi everybody,
I've been away for a couple of days.
I struggled with the password issue, and it might take a couple of tries yto get it r ight

Here's the deal, on what happens in the software. As soon as it starts up, I try to access the database using your windows logon information (the preferred way of doing it - for security reasons) . If that works, we're in business. If I get an error message back, I try again using the SQL SA account with no password (the way it was in Encore Pro 1.4). If that works, then again we are in business. If it still doesn't then there are a number of possible reasons:

1) There is no Encore Pro database, because no SmartCard downloads have been done yet.
2) The SQL server is not running... that's why I ask you to make sure it's running
3) A SQL password is needed, because one was specified when Encore Pro 1.5 was installed.

Unfortunately I haven't found a way of parsing out the exact reason for the inability to access the database, so we are left guessing.

Windows 98 and NT do not have the capability of using Windows logon for database access, so the SA account method is the only one. (I seem to recall that Respironics specify that XP should be used for Ver. 1,5)

I'm interested in making sure this password thing is solved. Keep me in touch.

However, please make sure that you do have valid Encore Pro data in the database, by testing it to make sure you can see a valid detailed report. If you have not yet done a download, there is no way the MyEncore is going to work.

Regards,
Derek

No EncorePro Database Is My Problem

Post by Jerry69 » Sat Nov 26, 2005 8:24 pm

Derek,

Thanks. If 'no database' will cause the password issue, then, that's my problem. I don't have a card reader yet and haven't downloaded to Encore Pro.

Thanks for the help and thanks for the software.

I don't like the sound of this. [You meant to say 'MSQL' server, didn't you, like the print screen I showed in this post?]

Let me ask you this: Although you can't get MyEncore to run, you can still get a report of AHI's, etc. from Encore Pro, can't you? If I can get the same report that my sleep doc gave me, that'll be okay.

Tom and everybody,

I just got back from shrink-wrapping two 42 ft sailboats for the winter, and I am so stiff and sore that I can hardly move Used a lot of muscles that haven't been used for a while!

I'm sure we can solve this thing with your help. What I'll do in the next day or so is produce a special debug version of MyEncore that will give more explicit reasons on why it cannot access the SQL server. Then I'll have those who are having problems run it and send me the results. I'll PM those above (especially Tom since he seems to meet the criteria I set) with instructions on what to do...

Never fear, Derek's here...
