Need Help - Setup for Smart Card Reader Software

Post by DaveMunson » Fri Nov 11, 2005 11:44 am

Ok. Got the MAKO USB card reader.
Got Windows 98

In order to run MyEncore, I need to ???

1. Get Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (?)
2. Get Encore Pro software (Do I really need this?)
3. Get the latest MyEncore.

Any help, thanks.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes

Also, you'll need to install the USB card reader drivers.

Don't know about the compatibility of all the software with W98. I'm sure someone more knowledgable than I will respond.

Check in the FAQ section on this site for installation instructions from Derek.

THanks. Ordered the software. Will look-up the dot-net stuff later.

Windows 98 is getting to be positively ancient. Several people have used MyEncore with it and Encore Pro 1.4.xx. However, I have just released the first Beta test version of MyEncore for Encore Pro 1.5, and I cannot guarantee that it will work with Win 98. Maybe it will, maybe it won't... time will tell.

It will all depend on which version of Encore Pro you receive.

I seriously recommend updating your OS.

Every time I thought about upgrading, MS had another woopse and sent out a 100MB patch. I was waiting for the latest patch to be added to the installaiton disc.

No offense but I have run a VERY stable system on 98 and still dont see any new features from xp that I have to have...

If you don't have W98 OSR2 or higher the USB support is poor. The upgrade is free.
