Heated Hose Question

I want to buy an Aussie Hose. What tyoe of electrical adapter will I need in order to use it in the US?

Hi Jen,

I can't remember what parts I got at Radio Shack, but when I received my heated hose they provided the conversion electrical parts in the instructions.

Good luck with your heated hose, I can't imagine life without it!

It operates on 12 Volts DC . Just go to Radio Shack and get you power supply with a M connector . The same connector that the GK 420E uses it will even piggy back to the 420 if you order that option .

This will work. You can control the heat a bit by changing the voltage if you like.

Gee chrisp, I think I've already got one of those in my bin of wall-warts. Maybe I won't have to buy a thing when my hose arrives! .

Do I need 1 transformer/converter only? Or do I need the transformer and a US outlet adapter? Jen

If you purchase from Radio Shack it shoild fit in the us electric outlet . If you ae in the usa .

I bougt the piggy back, and didn't like it.
1. I disconnect the 420e daily to bring it to my computer, and that get pretty complicated with the hose connected in to the power system.

2. Some power supplies - e.g. my European version - simply don't have enough power for both machine and hose.

I ended up buying a separate power supply for the hose.

Got my Wonder from Down Under yesterday and ran it on piggy back last night. Worked great!

This morning I hit the off button on the 420e, then the power switch on my surge protector strip so the hose and humidifer would both shutdown. No problem!

The Radio Shack product number is 2731776 and the connector plug is a type m. You can use a current power adapter that is less than 12watts 1000mA, but under no circumstances ever use one that exceeds what Sleepzone recommends. I have a power supply that is listed for 800mA, which if used, would deliver less heat to keep the hose dry.

2nd night update:
Again, no rainout and excellent humidification. As a bonus, the last two nights I've slept better than ever; noticeably less restless, deeper and more restful to the point that my wife commented on it this morning!

Coincidence? Maybe, I've only got 2 nights results. Let's see what happens this weekend and next week.

frostman, the Aussie heated hose prevents condensation
in the main air hose. It's a hose you use instead of
the regular 6 foot main air hose that came with your
machine.

The "heated hose" stays slightly warm so that the heated
humidified air traveling the long distance to your nose
won't cool off during the journey. When warm humidified
air cools, it loses its moisture by forming water droplets
along the inside of a cold plastic air hose. The droplets
may make gurgling sounds inside the hose or spray/drip
out on your face, or make your mask damp - which can
lead to air leaks if the silicone cushion gets very slippery.

The Aussie heated hose stops "rainout" wonderfully well.
You can crank your humidifier up as warm as you like and
keep your bedroom as cool as you wish....conditions that
often produce "rainout" in a regular hose even when you
wrap an unheated hose with all kinds of insulating hose
covers. The heated hose works great especially for
people who like to sleep in a really cold bedroom.

I've used one for over a year now. It's great. It's even
nice for people who don't use a heated humidifier but
would like to knock just a tiny bit of chill off the incoming
cold air.

The adapter I have for mine is the same Radio Shack
model # that capt. mentioned - the 1 amp 12 volt
adapter #273-1776 with an "M" plug.

Thanks RG, last week there was a pretty good debate on 'RAINOUT" some said it was moisture from your mouth, so you thing the heated hose does a great job???? Have you ever used a snuggle hose????

Snuggle hoses don't do the trick. The only thing I've found to completely end rainout is the SleepZone Heated CPAP tube!!!

Had my first serious rainout last night and just put in my order for the Aussie hose (why are these not available here?). Off to Radio Shack in the morning.
