encore pro software, what version?
encore pro software, what version?
I won my fight with the DME to upgrade from remstarPlus to a RemstarPro2 cpap, cflex, humidifier. The DME gave me a really difficult time and said I couldnt have the Pro2 with the card, only doctors need them, they didnt carry them, etc. They tried to get me to accept a discontinued Pro. ( which I politely informed them was discontinued.) I didnt give up using the great advice i got on this site.
Anyway, they actually called Respironics regarding giving me a Pro2. From what I have gathered, Respironics is not used to consumers having the smart card, software and reader.
The DME relayed to me that the Respironics rep indicated that I need to be careful regarding which version of software I purchase. I'm sure someone out there knows which version I need to purchase, if you could help please.

how you won the fight
sarkel,
When you say you won the fight about upgrading how did you do this?
I mean obviously you wanted a different machine than what your DME was going to give you...so what is it you told him or do to get the machine you really wanted....?????
Reason for asking is I've been waiting from a call from my DME to set me up with a machine and it's been almost 2 weeks since my 2nd sleep study and I have no idea what kind of a machine I'm getting other than what was prescribed ( meaning a responics) and from hearing all the problems people having with their DME's I just have a felling I'm going to get a call saying that he has a machine and he ready to come over and set me up and that I have to accept whatever he brings.
i'm just trying to get all my guns ready ahead of time so i can be prepared if you know what I mean

Hi Ramblingman
I was originally provided with a RENTED Remstar Plus. My insurance rents for a nonspecific number of months until the machine is paid for. In order to switch out, you must do so before the rental costs exceed the cost to purchase. If you wait till then, you own it. I was in the same situation as you. I was just given a machine and never even saw a copy of the prescription.
Well.... Basically I just wouldnt let up on the DME ( and my doctors office was supportive) when they gave me excuse after excuse why i couldnt have one. when they said i didnt have the right prescription, I got one.. When they offered me a Pro, I said they were discontinued. When they said they didnt have Pro2's in stock , I asked why and why couldnt you order me one? (it turns out they really did have them) They are only reimbursed a set fee from the insurance company, and if they give you a machine that is $100 more , that's $100 less that they make. To summarize, it wasnt pretty. i was not nice . they were not nice.
In all honesty I only feel somewhat successful because in the end I didnt get the machine i really wanted RemstarAutopap. Everyone I talked to said that it is just about impossible to get the big insurance carrier here to pay for these.

Well to be honest with you I have the RX from the Dr. and it is very invasive on what type of machine ...
I'm looking at my RX from the DR. and he has checked:
CPAP machine.... Respironics......... RAMP........Heated Humidifier
and pressure 7cm H20.
Now I got an approval from my medical coverage stating a cpap rental approval, I tried talking with my ins company and they said all they had was a code : E0601 which was from the DME and that they don't know what device this was other than a "Continuous airway device"
So i manage to get the phone number of the DME but pretty much got told that my therapist ( i guess who is assign to me) was not in and will have him/her call me back ( well that was 5 hours ago )
Any suggestions?

The place I did my sleep study selected a DME on my behalf (how nice). I asked them how they chose , and they said they just alternate down the list. At first, I assumed that I was required to use that company. BIG MISTAKE. After later talking my insurance carrier, they advised that you can go to any DME on their approved list.
I called around till I found a convenient DME on the approved list. What I did not do at the time (which is why I ended up without the machine I wanted) was to thoughly research the machine I wanted before I chose the DME.
Once you decide upon a machine, I would call around to various DMEs to see if they are willing to provide you with the machine you want. If one DME seems more willing to work with you in getting you the machine you want, go with them.
I found, and this is just my opinion, that the DMEs either are very unknowledgeable about the different types of equipment available and/or deliberately trying their best not to give you any information regarding alternatives. It is all about maximizing profits.

The more generic the prescription, the better. You can fax your prescription to cpap.com or use their prescription upload feature: Secure Prescription (Rx) UploadRAMBLINMAN wrote:Well to be honest with you I have the RX from the Dr. and it is very invasive on what type of machine ...

and they can send you the machine of your choice. They can keep that prescription on file and you can buy a different machine down the road, if you so desire. (The insurance code E0601 NU is CPAP purchase. This includes CPAPs AND APAPs. There is no different code for an APAP!!!!!!!)
Have you taken a look at cpap.com's new offering: billmyinsurance.com?
You don't need to do any of this through a DME if you don't want to!!!
