Encore Pro Installation Problems

Post by tomkat » Sun Jul 10, 2005 12:52 pm

When I tried to install Encore Pro (1.4i Rev4) the process hung with the message "Searching for Encore Pro database". I then tried to remove what I had done via Control Panel Add/Remove programs and found only 0.16MB worth of the program had been installed. I clicked on Add/Remove Encore Pro 1.4i and was greeted with the message: "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file" . Any suggestions would be most appreciated as I ultimately want to use Derek's My Encore program but needed the SQL database and the Smart Card reader to use it. Thank you, Tom
(I am usind Windows XP Pro with SP2 installed on a Dell 2.8GHz desktop)

tomkat

regret i'm not pc literate enough to help you out here, but there have been several threads about different problems with loading the software

try searching for 'database' or 'encore pro' (search button at the top of the screen) and you might find another thread where your particular problem is discussed

alternatively, the nice folks at cpap.com might be able to help

SNM,
I just got my copy of EncorePro today and mine is 1.4.99, Data Base Version 9.21. I did do the service pack immediately, as per the advice of another member, right after I installed it. I don't know if that affects the version or not.
Hope this helps.

How do you upgrade?

Post by SnoreNoMore2005 » Tue Aug 02, 2005 12:47 pm

I just received my CD and it is 1.4.87. Can anyone tell me how to go about upgrading to the latest version?

Thanks

SNM:

This was given to me by one of the other members for when I got my CD. I didn't need the upgrade, but did install the service pack. I am giving you the link. Let me know how you make out.

http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... e=[Encore]

There are two downloaded two updates:
(a) Encore Pro v1.4i Rev 4 Upgrade and (b) Encore Pro v1.4i Service Pack 1. I was told to download them in that order.

Good luck.

LI, I followed your link and downloaded Service Pack 1. That upgraded me to 1.4.99.

Do you know what the Service Pack 1 does?

Thank you for your help.

Tomkat, when I installed Encore Pro, I got the message "Searching for Encore Pro database" which stayed on my screen for several minutes. You might have thought you were locked up simply because you didn't wait long enough for the program to install.

If you can't uninstall through add/remove programs, I would reboot and try a fresh reinstall all over again. Give the "Searching for Encore Pro database" plenty of time to load. Go have some decaf coffee or take a nap while the message is on your screen.

Hope this helps.

SNM,
I really don't know what the Service Pack does, but Tridens might. He was the one who sent me the link to upgrade and use the link for the Service Pack. You now are on the same version I am. Is that good or bad? I don't know. Not the expert here. Was basically just passing on information that had been passed on to me.

Hope it's working for you well.

I did the upgrade some time back and PM'd Derek. He said he'd look at it when he got back from vacation and had time. Not sure either what was changed in the Service Pack.

Service pack 1

Post by SnoreNoMore2005 » Fri Aug 05, 2005 7:53 pm

I found out that all Encore Pro Service Pack 1 does is provide support for some of the other Respironics machines that were still on the older version of Encore Pro... such as their BiPap and a few others.

SNM:

So we need this why??? LOL. Oh, well, as long as it didn't hurt to have it installed. What did I know? I was told to install it, I installed it.

Is everything working well for you now?
