Problems with ComfortCurve ... Have You Tried This?

Post by AllShookUp » Wed May 25, 2005 12:16 pm

I wondered how many have contacted Respironics about problems with their new CC mask. It seems that some have had no problem at all with their mask and others have had big problems. I myself have emailed 4 times with only 1 reply of something to the effect of "Thank you for your email, I will pass it along". Do you think that they will supply us with a fix for our problems? I know they sent Mikesus a replacement mask and it also had leaks, but Mikesus have you heard anything yet? Mister Logo has also informed me that they are sending him a replacement part. Why have they not tried to contact all of us with some kind of information, even just letting me know that they are working on it would help me to a point . Do the top guys at Respironics even know about this problem? Someone posted that cpap.com (where I purchased mine) is having lots of people return this mask. What are they telling you when you call to return it?

Where I bought my CC they are sending me a new one. They just mailed it out today. My online dealer called Respironics and got them to make good on the mask. I called Respironics first and they told me they would make good on the mask but first that I needed to call the online store where I bought the mask and see if they could send the mask back for me. If they would not that there was nothing they (Respironics) could do. I had to deal with where I bought the mask not with them .I was very pleased with my online store. They told me that they did not want me to be without my ComfortCurve and that they were shipping my CC out today priority mail and when I received my new CC to send the defective one back. I am very pleased and I am very happy how this was handled

It sounds like this could be a huge recall issue for Respironics. They will probably be very careful what they admit or commit to officially. I suspect this is why they are not responding to emails too quickly on this. They probably have to figure out how to handle it all and what their liability is.

I am new to OSA but I have never in my life seen any other category of product where a product does NOT come to the market capable of its designed function. Saran wrap to stop leaks, cheek pads that need removal, the necessity of moleskin pads, hose wrap to prevent inhalation of H20. I'm not only complaining about the CC. Many other masks also need "customizing." I guess the manufacturers have a captive audience.

I have also sent polite and descriptive e-mails to Respironics without the courtesy of an acknowledgement back from them. I don't have any problems with the mask itself but my elbows also leak like the Titanic and I really don't think the user should have to teflon tape a new mask. I'm very disappointed with Respironics, not for the mask but for the way they are handling these issues. Doesn't seem like Cpap.com should have to bear all the burden for the poor execution of the swivel elbow. I was planning the purchase of my fourth Respironics machine to carry on business but will be looking closely at the other companys service reputations now. Are you out there Johnny? Do you have any input?
