Swift 2 Pantyhose headgear

Post by Moby » Sun Dec 30, 2007 7:01 am

Following RG's lead I've removed the headgear from my Swift 2 and replaced it with pantyhose (tights) legs. I did a bit of sewing so the airvent is free and to give hose access, and I sewed on some velcro. I'll trial it tonight, i have high hopes of it!

I'm especially hoping it will be more secure and flexible when turning from side to side and when "nestling" into my pillow, especially as I am a side sleeper and need good neck support. I've been getting frustrated by the ideal neck support banging on the Swift headgear and dislodging the nasal pillows. hopefully all that is now fixed!!!! (Ha!)

Very comfortable night, no problems at all and numbers same as usual - AI about 1, HI about 3.5, leakage 0.34.

Pictures will prove a challenge, but I will do what I can. Probably tomorrow Oz time. (guess that's still tomorrow US time too).

Di

edited to correct AI and HI (wrong way round originally)

RestedGal, I sent you a PM. I don't know whether it worked though.

hmm my PMs seem to be stuck in my outbox.

I uploaded some pics to photobucket, so I"ll try to post them here. Hope they'r not too big.

And yes, I know I look funny, but hey, we're all friends in Cpap, no?

There are two straps, (legs) one to support the nasal pillows, and then one to stablilize the first one. I also wear a headscarf tied under the chin over the lot to keep it all from rubbing when I turn over in bed.

here goes

hope that works. I used the 'url" tool, perhaps I should have used the "image" tool?

Seems to have worked. (Photobucket that is)

I think I would wear the first strap (which supports the nasal pillows) higher at the back than in the pic, but my hairdo was in the way.

Trial and error is vital in finding the right spot. That is why I went overboard on the velcro, as I didn't know where I would want it. RG's starter knots would be less troublesome than velcro, it's the devil to sew, especially the sticky variety.

Ha, now I'll wear this setup tonight and find it doesn't work any more!!! Hope not.
And, Happy New Year to you all (Blwyddyn Newydd Da)

Di, I received one PM from you -- your reply to my initial PM. You probably saw your reply still sitting in your OutBox because I hadn't read it yet. Your reply did get sent to my Inbox the instant you clicked "submit", but your copy stays in your Outbox until the recipient (me) gets around to checking PMs. Your copy of your reply to me moved over to your "SentBox" only after I finally looked at my PM InBox and opened your reply. Confusing names for those boxes, I know!

Here are the pictures of Moby's clever headgear creation for the Swift II:

Thank you very much Rested Gal!

I got to bed last night about 3, and was not too fussy about getting the gear right - and my numbers this morning were better than usual.
Though I did wake up pulling my mask off which I've never done before.

Actually I *was* dreaming - that I was showing someone how to do a sinus rinse

I think the problem was asthma as I had a bit of trouble breathing when I got moving this morning. We have had a number of bushfires round here the past week.
