Autopap-what is best????
If my doc will prescribe an APAP machine which one do the majority of you guys have good results with?? I am using a loaner Resmed Vantage but it is a bit more expensive than the Elite I had originally been prescribed so I wondered if there are other REALLY good APAPs that might be a little less expensive. $$$$ is tight right now!!!

I have the m series autopap with c-flex. I don't have the a-flex machine and can't compare the two -- but I do love my machine and at this point wouldn't trade it for anything else.

And I have the "Workhorse, Classic Tank" version, that I wouldn't trade for the newer ones. So you can't hardly go wrong with the brand.
Like is said, if you have to buy out of pocket, here at CPAP.COM is the place, Fair and honest deals. I bought mine here and never looked back.
If you do get the "M"agic series, you might get a different separate HH, I forget the number but someone will add it. Welcome to the group. Jim
This unit is said to work well for a HH.

[quote="RipVW"]The M Series Auto w/A-FLEX is the hands down favorite. I've had mine for a few months--it's wonderful, and costs less than the ResMed Vantage. If you're paying for the machine yourself, you don't need a special APAP prescription--any CPAP prescription will surfice.

I'd get the Respironics REMstar Auto|A-flex M series machine. But I would not get the integrated humidifier for any M machine.
Instead, I'd get the separate Fisher & Paykel HC 150 heated humidifier. That humidifier can be used with any brand/model machine.
To monitor treatment, I'd buy the EncoreViewer software.
I'd buy the card reader Mako "Infineer" DT3500 USB here:

I'm thinking a key issue here might be that Humidaire 3i integrated heated humidifier you are using. Is it a "loaner" too or was it purchased at the time you were provided w/the Resmed S8 Eite?
IF you own it outright now due to purchase you "might" save money by purchasing the Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage as you would have to purchase the stand alone F&P HC 150 stand alone heated humidifier or the Respironics "tank" or M Series integrated humidifier as well as the Respironics autoPAP if you opt to go w/the Respironics.
AND, IF your doctor will write the script for an auto AND you will be getting it thru insurance thru a local DME supplier, that supplier should NOT charge you even 1 cent more for the exchange of the Elite to the Vantage. They are both the same HCPCS reimbursement code: E0601.

I have used a RemStar Auto "classic" with heated humidifier for over 5 years with no trouble at all and recently purchased a new one with C-Flex from cpap.com.
Then purchased another Auto "classic" with C-Flex for my wife from cpap.com but we neither need the C-Flex, the machine is so comfortable.
Can't go wrong with cpap.com and the old "classic" is just that.
Good luck.
