Tricked out Aura

Post by Mikesus » Sun Apr 03, 2005 6:33 pm

Ok, the only complaint that I have with the Aura is that it the tube on it defeats my Aussie heated hose, and I get a bit of rainout on higher humdifier settings. So, went to the fabric store, got some fleece and some velcro. Cut a strip about 3 1/4" wide by 17" or so. Broke out the wife's sewing machine and attached the velcro. Tonight will be the big test.

Wader, what did you do on yours?

Sounds like a winner. now, How do you quiet it down. It sure is loud. Might make it thru the night otherwise. Keep changing to my trusty ultra mirage.
At this point I'm disappointed. And I'm hard of hearing.

Cheers,

Chris

Mikesus,

I made myself one just like that a few weeks back. It works pretty well, but I like it cold in my bedroom and I turn the humidifier up to 5 so I've got a tough challange. I still get a little rainout in the nasal seal.

Yeah, but I sewed mine myself

I find with the heated hose (only powered by a 9v transformer) and the humidifier on 5 it is too hot. So I have a bit of a challenge too, as the 9v doesn't eliminate the rainout as much either...

Have you thought about how to quiet the whooshing sound?

How do you think I made mine? super glue? I even color coordinated the polar fleece to the blue aura headgear and made a matching cover for my heated hose. If you like I can send you a set. I have plenty of fleece left. I was thinking of making up a bunch of hose covers and offering them as prizes for another trivia contest.

The wooshing noise does not bother me AT ALL so I have never felt the need to fix it. I also sleep with my machine at head height, about six inches from my head. The noise of the machine is just fine too. I've often thought when I read posters write the these noises wake them up, that I don't know how they would sleep well even without OSA.

Wow, you went color co-ordinated huh? I went with matching gray, same as my Aussie heated hose...

Going from the Resmed Ultra Mirage FF to the Aura did make me appreciate how quiet the Ultra Mirage is tho...

After a couple of nights, it doesn't bother me that much tho...

Only the best Wal-mart has to offer for me!

The noise of the aura was the first thing I noticed about it. I agree it's louder than other interfaces, but I think if you can't sleep because of the noise of the aura you probably are awakened by many other things also. I hear a train of in the distance at 11pm just about every night. THAT is loud enough to wake me up.

Maybe you'll help me gather some questions for the next trivia contest!

We have a SUPER Wal-mart. What-ever that means. All I know is when we need to get some poster board for the kids school projects we can get them for 88 cents instead of the $3.99 that the Ben Franklin used to charge (before they closed)

Wader,

I'm going to have to stick with you on this one as well. The noise has never bothered me with the Aura or anything else for that matter. I like a little "white noise" anyway. Just seems to lull me to sleep. It sure beats waking myself up snoring!!

To me the whoosh sound on inhale that the Aura makes is essentially the same sound any of my Breezes made. The constant rushing air sound of the Swift bothered me more, but didn't bother Wader at all. I was used to the inhalation sound of the Breeze, so Aura didn't take me much more getting used to. I wish all of them were as quiet as my Activa.

Guys that can sew! Wow!

No panty hose here either. Next week Wader and I will have a bake off and sewing lecture!
