Has your recall been replaced

Post by new2 » Mon Apr 30, 2007 7:15 am

Who has sent back their Elite?
Are you confident that the problems are fixed and the product is safe?
I guess refunds are out of the question.

This isn't just a broken switch, it sounds like a very serious problem.

I think I heard on the news there was a truck load of them headed to the airport to send back down under, they got near Oakland I80 and I580 interchange, caught the overpass on fire and it collapsed. News at 11.

SnoreDog, YOU are INCORRIGIBLE!!!!

When I talked to Resmed last week they had just sent out notices to the DME suppliers that day and the day before. That would have been Monday and Tuesday a week ago.

I would assume they sent to the main headquarters of the large DMEs like Apria and Lincare, but maybe they sent to each individual branch office. I didn't think to ask that. There are a LOT of smaller DMEs that handle the Resmed machines so I would imagine its going to take another week maybe before all the DMEs in the US are notified.

My Elite was not affected by the recall. My Vantage was. The problem was that I had no idea which cord came w/which machine. Altho my DME had not been notified of the recall by the time I was leaving town last Wednesday they gave me a new cord to take w/my Elite just to be safe until we all know just what is involved and how it is going to be handled.

Meanwhile, there sits my Vantage. *sigh* Nothing like having a new toy and not being allowed to play w/it. *sigh*

OK, here's a question: Has anyone heard from cpap.com about the recall? (I bought my Vantage 11 months ago from them, and it is one involved in the recall. I have not been contacted by cpap.com as of yet.) Anyone at cpap.com have more information to add? Inquiring minds want to know. Slinky's DME is apparently treating this as a power cord issue as opposed to a power connector one, which fits with what I heard on ResMed's recording at their 800 number for the recall but not with what their press release says.

They are probably like nuclear waste, put them to close together and they reach critical mass. Jim

Homeland Security, probably needs to issue a Amber Alert for Bio Hazard and Nuclear contamination.

BookBear, my DME doesn't usually handle the Resmed S8 Vantage and didn't have one in stock. The Recall was released on a Monday and I was going out of town on Wednesday for 5 days. Since I wasn't sure which cord belonged to my Elite (which wasn't involved in the recall) and which belonged to my Vantage (which was a recall) we decided it was safest if they gave me a new cord to take on the trip. My DME was totally unaware of the Recall at that point and just took my word for it that there even was a Recall. I just talked to my DME and they still have not received anything from Resmed at this local office but that's not to say it hasn't been received by their main office and the local offices just not notified yet.

Ah, ok...thanks, Slinky. Still waiting for the "information packet" that ResMed's headquarters in Poway said they were putting in the mail that day....

Yeah, it would nice to hear SOMETHING from them - or our DMEs (snide smile). My CPAP DME is NOT the DME who supplied the cord. My 02 DME supplied the cord for me.
