Aussie Heated Hose

Post by WearyOne » Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:49 am

I still feel exhausted; my numbers are still the same with AHI always less than 1.5, but for first two nights with my Aussie heated hose I have slept four straight hours without waking up! Also, those vivid dreams I was having that it apears means I was waking up in REM? Haven't had those the last two nights either.

Could be a coincidence, but...I just LOVE this heated hose! LOve, it, love it, love!! (Wish it were longer!).

Pam

Might be a weird questions, snoredog, but when you say you have two of them, is one a backup or do you hook them together so the hose it longer?

Pam,

I am glad you slept well.

I agree I love the Aussie Heated Hose.

I did not buy it for condensation. I bought it for the warm air. I was able to use the humidifier with passive humidity. (No congestion that way.)

Recently I slept with the Nasal Aire II with out the Aussie hose, in a warm room. It was not that bad. But with the Hybrid the air was still to cold.

I find that with heating the hose, the breeze (air) feels like a warm summer breeze and it is so relaxing. I could not have imagined using the Hybrid in the dead of winter without the Aussie heated hose.

I think anyone, (Especailly someone with a full face mask) that thinks of the Aussie heated hose only for condensation problems is missing a great thing.

I can do this, I will do this.

I also love my heated hoses (2). I use one and have the other for travel and as a backup.

If you need a longer hose, why don't you buy a 2' hose, and use a hose conntector.

You would just have to determine, based on where your power adapter sits, whether you put the 2' extension on the top or bottom. Here's all you would need:

Snoredog for what condition are you suggestion the magnesium?

WearyOne, during my sleep study it showed as was waking up during rem sleep. I also think that is why I remembered my vivid dreams, because now I do not remember many of them or just blur.

Linda, thanks for the info, especially the links to the right products! I had asked about doing this on another thread somewhere, as I didn't know if it was all right to hook a plain hose onto a heated hose. And since you've suggested it, I'm going give it a try. I think the extension would probably go between the mask and the hose (the Aussie instructions say to connect the end with the electrical connected into the machine).

Snoredog, already take additional magnesium, but haven't tried melatonin. Good idea.

Selfseeker, although I bought it so I could crank the HH up and not have water droplets in my Hybrid nasal pillows, I really wanted it to heat up the air. That air is cold to me, even though it's a HH. And I had a thick cover on the regular hose, too. The warm air feels so much better!!

I have used the Aussie hose for about 8 months now. I hook the aussie hose to the machine, an 18" hose (http://tinyurl.com/382wkj) to the Aussie hose, and the 18" hose to my mask. Works fine and the swivel gives a little more freedom for movement.

I find the pricing of the Aussie hose a bit confusing. Is it cheapter to ship it to USA? I live in Hong Kong and the price to have it shipped over here is AUD 159, and surprisingly, if I have it shipped to my sister-in-law's place in Brisbane, Australia, the price is the same at AUD 159. I have a friend who lives in California and will visit me next month and agrees to bring it to me, so I asked Donald Fishcer how much it was and how to order it online but he never replied my email.

PLMD/RLS and associated arousals. Magnesium is thought to help some with RLS. Melatonin thought to promote deeper sleep.

Combined, hopefully fewer arousals would be seen during sleep is the goal.

I would even add to that some decaffeinated green tea before bed. Schiff brand melatonin plus includes the green tea extract (but I don't like the plus version, I don't think it works as good as the other did and I don't want to increase my dose more than 3mg).

I now use Wonder Labs brand in 3mg dose.

this sleep doctor seems to agree and adds wellabutrin and Folate:

This site seems pretty good, hey where's that bong:

Other medicinal approaches include the following:

* There is also anecdotal evidence that medical marijuana alleviates RLS, although studies are lacking because of governmental restrictions.

* Some people have reported partial or even complete relief with taking a supplemental magnesium salt such as magnesium oxide or magnesium gluconate once or twice a day, backing off on the dose if diarrhea develops. Magnesium sulfate is the most active form; however, anyone with renal problems should stay away from magnesium supplements.

Dog, you are the Dawg. I've been wondering where I got that great 90 degree elbow. I love it, it fits nice and snug. Wish I had another one.

Linda, if you're talking about an elbow connector to use between the rubber cuff of any kind of main air hose (regular hose or heated hose) and the humidifier, I bought several of these connectors at Lowe's:

Sure is a handy cheap little item to prolong the life of the rubber cuff of the air hose. No more struggle trying to work the cuff on and off the humidifier.
