Night 2 with Taping - 5 Hours in only woke up once!

Post by brackstone » Wed Apr 11, 2007 5:48 am

This is great, I only woke up once last night, and I believe it was because I tangled myself in the hose or something silly like that.

However I my alarm clock today went *beep beep* and I woke up and I didn't hit snooze! I didn't hit snooze! I was able to get up out of bed!

I'm still a bit sleepy but that's probably because I only got 5 hours and I'm still just starting out getting decent sleep.

I'm going to have to trim my facial hair a bit as the tape got stuck on something I dunno but wow it hurt like the dickens.

Congrats on your good night. You should have more and more of them now. It's great when you get everything working for you! It just gets easier from here.

Second night of taping

Post by kteague » Wed Apr 11, 2007 6:46 am

I used to just scan the posts about mouth breathing and taping (arrgh!) but after all this time I've begun mouth breathing. I'm thinking it's because I'm finally sleeping deep enough to relax. Good to hear it is helping you. May this be just the beginning of you getting the sleep you need.

I can appreciate your frustration in this area. When I finally got the machine I needed I started sleeping but then I was mouth breathing! Then I got my UMFF and it made me worse than I usually was, I'm happy I finally got the courage to tape!

Congratulations. It should get better from here. I started taping about 3 weeks ago. I taped a week. Then I thought I was cured and didn't tape for a week and noticed I was not feeling as rested. Started taping again and can tell the difference in the quality of my sleep. I used the tips from rooster and have not had a problem.

Taped for first time last night (have been treating 13 days). Seemed to make a difference.

I have to laugh though, there is another post on here by someone concerning the "blowfish effect", had that happen last night. The ol' tongue just has to be in the right position, doesn't it?

To the best of my knowledge yes.

To cure blowfish cut an old head band and sew on velcro so you can wrap it around your head at the mouth. Cures blowfish every time.

I'd post a pic, but I did once and it wasn't pretty...LOL

You got that right.

Like Kathy, I always scanned the "tape" threads because I didn't have the problem. I also was thankful that it didn't apply to me.

But after 4 years, I became aware of a little mouth leaking. It didnt' even show up on Encore Pro. And my husband never heard it. So, I just taped a little strip vertically - up and down across my lips. No more dry throat..

Not saying that I will tape every night, but I definitely will when I get dry mouth/throat. It works.

There is a ready made adjustable chin strap at the WalMart foot treatment shelf. I think it is called a universal elastic bandage and it's for binding a knee or ankle. I use it to support my chin. There is about four inches of overlap insdie when set up for me I just slide it on over my head and around my kneck before putting on my CL2 and then position the strap from point of chin to point of head. LOL

brackstone,

I am glad you are getting results. CPAP treatment is trial and error until we get it right.

I used to tape. Drool would unstick the tape.

I started clamping so hard, I needed a dental device.

We each need to figure out what works best.

kathy, I am sure you are enjoying the deeper sleep even if you need to tape.

I am not sure about the blowfish effect. For me, using the CFlex does the trick.

I can do this, I will do this.
