In my determined effort to be able to use nasal masks, I have taped and chinstraped, and done both.
I think it is my tongue that seems to drop down and allows air to get into my mouth. Since my mouth is taped, there is no where for the air to go. So now aerophagia is the problem that wakes me up in about an hour or 1.5.
Am I going to have to just give up on the nasal mask idea altogether?
I am having so much trouble finding a FF mask that works that I still am lucky if I can rack up 1-2 hrs a night staying in the mask. (I have had a bit more luck with the Hybrid - but still only last about 3 hrs. or a bit less.)
another mouth taping question
Well, 3 hours with the Hybrid is better than 1.5 with the nasal mask and aerophagia.
I would say stick to the Hybrid, and if you are having air leaks with it, try one of the mask glue suggestions on another thread. Adding some "sticky" to the mask should help reduce leaks.

What kind of "sticky" works? I have both a F&P FF with the chin support and a FF Mirage. The F&P seems tight put the leak alarm goes off no matter what I do. I have gone back to taping.

I posted a link for the "sticky" stuff. Here it is:

However, there is a current thread (I can't remember which one it was), which someone can direct you to. Just reinforcing what works and what doesn't.

Thanks Linda.
It is so much easier for me to go to sleep in my nasal masks - Breeze or ComfortLite 2 (and the going to sleep part is my main problem these days!!) that I really am hoping to figure out how to deal with the mouth breathing part - because going back to sleep with the nasal masks would be easier than struggling with a FF or the Hybrid.
I read those older threads earlier today and thought maybe the various options would help alleviate some of the annoyances in the FF and Hybrid that keep me from going to sleep - until I read a posting about the toxicity of benzonine, but I may give it a try if I can find some and just be real careful.
I STILL would rather find a solution to my mouth breathing problem. I thought tapping would do the trick (even my pulmonologist through it would) - but not with my mouth filling up with air. aaargh.
Does anyone know the consequences of too much aerophagia? and how much is too much?

I have the exact same problem.
Can't keep my pie hole closed at night.
I liked my nasal and experimented around with chin straps and tapes to control mouth leaks.
I'm now the proud owner of two full face masks but my skin is so sensitive that it starts sweating and reacting to the mask and interferes with sealing.
I had a bad reaction to the tape adhesive during my sleep study.
I still have a scar on my upper left cheek.

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regrets; for I am far surer of what is kind, than I am of what is true.
