Mouth Taping
A few weeks ago there were some good postings about mouth taping. Does anyone remember who posted and the best ways to tape. I believe I need to try taping my mouth and I can't seem to find the right tape.
If anyone knows, I thank you for your help.
I could have made a copy but at the time I did not think I would need to use that practice.

I forgot to add that I think the mask I have is causing me to mouth breath or leak through my mouth. I have to pull this mask tight to stop the leaks. It makes my upper lip and gums sore.
Monday I am getting a Mirage Activa Mask . I hope that will solve some or all of the problems.

I used the Swift, I used the Comfort Gel nasal mask. I am a mouth breather regardless of what mask I use. That's why I finally got over my denial and went with a FF mask. I did tape for a bit but wasn't the best solution for me. It works great for others. All you can do is try it and see if it helps you. Just make sure you put lip balm on. I liked the 3M (Nexcare) micropore tape best.

I think it was rested gal or the one who does compilations of numerous threads that had a comprehensive thread on everything related.
I can't remember but maybe someone more familar with the site knows who I mean. I just saw it yeasterday (sorry memory problems due to lack of sleep).
Although I am certain others would disagree. I tried a few but they didn't stick or leak until I tried clear duct tape sold at walmart's. The backing is different than silver duct tape and it is sold be the other colored duct tapes. It does leave my face sticky and somewhat hard to remove the sticky residue but alcohol worked. It stayed put without leaks all night and I am tough on things.

Someone recomended using Nexcare Micropore Tender Skin 2" wide. I bought some at Walgreens. $7.95 I used a piece over my mouth last night and even after using lip balm on my lips, this tape stuck so hard it nearly pulled my skin loose trying to get it off. I finally had to soak a wash rag in very hot water and sort of steam the tape loose. I don't see how they can advertise this stuff as "for tender skin" Tonight I am going to coat my skin with a lotion first and see if that helps it to come loose when its time to remove it. Regards jim
Every now and then I have this experience also, but it's usually when I try to remove it too quickly. If I remove it very s-l-o-w-l-y and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y, it usually comes off without a hitch. However, there are those times when it seems like no matter how careful I am, I can peel off a patch or two of skin. Not fun!Anonymous wrote:Someone recomended using Nexcare Micropore Tender Skin 2" wide. I've been using solely a full-face mask for a couple of weeks now, even though I get better results with a nasal mask + taping. Sometimes my face just needs a break from taping.

I really have very little problem removing this clear duct tape I buy at Walmart's and it seals perfectly; however I am starting to wonder if by taping the mouth one will retain more carbon dioxide in the lungs.
Th doctor just told me how was switching me to bipap because of the high pressures and retaining CO2 in my lungs. I am wondering if the mouth breathing in my sleep wasn't the body subconsciously trying to get more oxygen and get the CO@ out of lungs as it was unhealthy for the body.
Maybe by taping one's mouth they will retain more carbon dioxide especially at higher pressures (I am supposed to switch to 18/14). I am going to try a full face mask for first time and hoping it will be comfortable and not leak because if it doesn't work I am thinking of going to my old nasal mask and tape but now I am worried about co2 retention as doctor has switched from bipap to autopap at my mention that others on here were helped by it.
I did not know about auto bipap last week and am waiting to see if he will write a prescription on that. If anyone has any thoughts on carbon dioxide retention and mouth taping, I would appreciate your thoughts.
Yes, thanks, rested gal, that is what I was referring too. Very helpful link/compilation.
