I have been working all afternoon on getting it to fit properly. Tried the M pillows first and could never get a good seal. Then went to the L pillows and "Presto" I could hardly make it leak. So I am going to be trying this out for a few days and full time if it works out ok.
The AYR gel seems to seal, but I'm wondering if Vasoline would hurt anything. I will trade the small and petite pillows that have never been opened for the large if someone has one they can't use. Regards Jim
My new OPTILIFE nasal pillow mask came yesterday.

I have to stop using the optilife for a while. When I lay on my side the 'wings' are pushing the pillows up too tight to the nares. I woke with a blister on my nare this morning. I also found that when I sleep on my side or tummy for too long the 'wings' dig into my face and leave marks that take hours to go away.
I hope you have better luck than I did!

I believe I have read that a petroleum based lubricant can break down silicone, shortening the life of the piece. I wouldn't recommend using Vaseline. The is a saline gel available, not sure of the name.

Opti Life mask
I think you are right on the petroleum jelly. I got some ayr salve today. I was out last night. It should work better. I wasn't using the hose that came with the Optilife, but after reading todays posts I changed the hose cover to the hose they included with the mask. It is definitely lighter weight and more flexable. I'm trying to figure out some sort of strain relief for the hose since I don't wear jamies I don't think I want to clip the loop to my skin:o> The covers wouldn't work either as I often throw them back when I get too warm. Maybe I need to wear a necktie to bed. <grin> Ideas?
How about a scrunchie (ponytail band) safety pinned to the edge of the mattress through the bottom sheet. I used to do that to hold the hose when I used the NasalAire. Run your main hose through the scrunchie to hold it - literally take the weight off, so it doesn't pull off the bed. That should help.

I use the velcro strap & clip that came with the Opti. I place the strap at about mid-point on the hose and clip it to the outside edge of the pillowcase. I tuck the hose just under the outside edge of the pillow, The hose comes out from under the bottom corner of the pillow and with enough length to allow me to roll and face the middle of the bed.
