Soyoal FF Users Update Please

Post by mrammell » Fri Feb 23, 2007 11:15 am

Last I read, one user said "thumbs down" I was hoping this would be an "activa" comparable comfortable feeling mask. DO any of you like it? Any truth that there are (2) styles of rubber/mask material? Darn I wanted this to be good.

Had my first night with it last night. I loved it. I really liked the hybrid, but was having problems with nasal irritation, so I ordered a Soyala. At first it felt "different" but that quickly went away. I love the quietness and the fact that it doesn't blow on my wife. Granted, it is only one night, but I give it a big thumbs up so far.

My only problem was that I ordered a medium. It fits great, until my mouth falls open. Then the lower edge slowly slid up until it was in my mouth. So I either need to wear a chin strap or move to the large.

I have similar problems with the hybrid. I even cut off the little piece between the nostril device. So I believe the Soyala sounds might be worth the investment.

So far, I love the Soyala. The only thing, is it appears that it has a leak issue, even though I never wake up because of it. The avg leak is around 50 whereas the manual says it should be 40. I don't think that's a huge deal, but who knows. So far, I love the mask. I don't however, love the divot on my head each morning.

My problem was to get a good seal, I really had to have the pillows pressed tight to my nose. On occasion, they would slip inside my nostril and cause some serious irritation. That happened recently about 5 nights in a row and caused some actually bleeding, so I needed to try something different.

I love the nasal version, stopped using the Full Face version after 3 nights, went back to using the nasal.

I couldn't stop the leaks into my eyes with the FF, don't know if I just got a bad cushion or not but it seems to soft in the nosebridge area and too stiff every where else.

If I tightened up on the straps to eliminate the leaks into the eyes, it crushes the cushion leaving a crease where it goes over the nose then it leaks even worse.

I tried changing the pivot, using all 3 slots, I may try working with it some more, but at this point, for comfort and leak control, I still prefer the UMFF over the Soyala FF. The Soyala wins when it comes to noise, it is completely silent, it is disappointing for sure. I may touch base with Somnotech and see what they say.

It sealed like a champ the first night but has gone down hill since then. If I get it where it seals good against my checks the hard rubber is against the bridge of my nose....if I ease up on the nose contact it doesn't seal below the eyes. Right now I am alternating off between it and the UMFF.....they both seal well enough to keep the leak rate low but in order to do that I have them so tight it feels like my head is in a vice....and the bridge of my nose is taking a beating.

Well I guess we have a somewhat similar opinion. I just posted a review moments ago...

Got my new mask today, used the size guide and got a medium, feels good and i like the headgear. Will see what happens tonight under pressure, hope it doesn"t slide up like you said in your quote.
