First off I want to say that the drunken headaches disappeared right away. Like WOW, I was ecstatic.
I was headache free. Still tired and in need of naps though.
I had some trials finding an interface. That to was overcome.
With the right interface I slept 5 hours in a row. It was a major deal for me.
But for some reason, I started feeling worse. I was not feeling better; I was waking up with headaches, not the usual ones, I could not describe the acheness, nothing specific or major, just pain.
I am starting to wake up/arouse often again.
I started having bad headaches and aches. The headaches were different and worse then before.
I started getting discourage, my glimmer of hope for a non-tired life was fading fast.
Finally I woke up with major pain/headache on top of my head and my teeth felt as if they would come off.
Oh no, I thought this could not be a sinus infection. Off to the doctor I went, my sinuses are fine. Tells me to go to the dentist. I went to the dentist.
Well every place the dentist touched hurt, particularly the jaw area and a few teeth top and bottom. X-rays were ok.
End of story: I have been clamping harder then I need to keep my mouth closed. (Did have issues in the past and have been trying to not shut down to hard.)
So now I will be off to another dentist to see if some kind of mouthpiece can be made for me so I can still use the CPAP.
Moral of the story, It may not be CPAP related. If you started feeling better (or even never felt better but feeling worse) then start feeling different or getting weird pains, headaches, facial pains, shoulder or back pains, check with your dentist. I was surprised at what kind of pain I am in. I have had jaw issues many years ago but the symptoms were not the same, the effected areas were near the jaw and face.

One of the benefits of taping, for me, was that I no longer clamped my mouth shut... I used to clamp when falling asleep, and then as I slept, relax enough to mouth breathe.
Good luck with the mouth piece.

I'm sorry you've been in so much pain, but glad that you found out what it was. I hope you get a mouth piece that works for you.

Such mouth clinching can certainly lead to TMJ!
The whole mouth leak saga is certainly challenging! Taping was my answer for over a year and a half, then I surrendered and went to the Hybrid. I was one of the lucky ones that found the right fit with this mask. Thankfully so, as it's nice to simply off and on a mask for things like answering the phone or getting a drink of water.

Taping or the hybrid would not have helped me. I clamp hard all the time, even during the day. I have a hybrid for emergencies when trying it out, I had to remember to keep my open to see how it would do.
ozij and inacpapfog, I am glad you found solutions.
Thanks for the well wishes Brenda, they worked.
cflame how did you overcome the TMJ with a CPAP?
I can't beleive it has only been a month since this post.
Follow up:
Well I did get the oral device from the dentist. It was adjusted a week later (painful on the teeth while wearing it.)
So the pain from clamping is now gone.
Need to do exercises and wear the device during the day as well.
I have noticed that sometimes my jaw will open when I clamp down. Hopefully my body will retrain itself. (Other times, it is tight together.)
Will be going for another follow up in a couple of weeks.
