What do you think of this?

This worked out pretty good. It is just one of those cheap wood file cabinets like you find at Staples and Office Depot. I added a 1 x 8 shelf and cut out a small notch in the back of the drawer, and, well, you be the judge. So far (3 nights) its worked out better than expected.

I have to get down on one knee to fill the humidifier tank. Everything else is right at hand..

Looks like I still need to clean up the power cords...

Wow! That looks great! I want one for myself!

Where exactly did you add the shelf?

I used two pieces of 1 x 6 x 7.5" on their side, inside the drawer, to space the 1 x 8 x 14" shelf about 6.25" above the bottom of the big drawer. I notched the back of the drawer, so that, I could slide the APAP backwards and remove the humidifier tank to clean it. However, I do have to lift out the APAP to get to the filter, but its pretty easy.

Bump,
I edited the, rather vague, shelf instructions, (see "Where did you add the shelf?'), to better clarify that the only thing modified was the large, roll-out, file drawer.

The file cabinet is from office Depot and the box says Bahia Collection.
This is NOT a nice piece of furniture. It's just cheap (less than $100) and, after adding the shelf, functional, xPAP storage.

For those who asked about the elbow, it came attached to my "Aussie" heated hose.

Looks good and functional. My machine is a bit noisy and I have thought of building myself something similar plus lining the inside with some dense accoustical insulation (I've used it for building speaker cabinets).

Do you have an air vent in the back (or side) to allow the machine access to fresh air?

The back of the file cabinet drawer is cut out right behind the APAP. Lots of air is available to the inlet.

At night, I just open the file drawer about four inches, and put on the hose.
One small inconvenience is the humidifier indicator light. I have to turn off the room lights and look down in the drawer to see it. However, I've gotten used to the "beep".

The top drawer will clear the file drawer with everything connected. Thanks to "Aussie" heated hose connector, and careful measurements.

Great idea, Dreamstalker. I think I will find some foam and get out the old sound level meter.

Looks great, but just a caution, maybe unnecesseary: sometimes cheap furniture offgasses formaldehyde because of its construction. I don't know if there is a formaldehyde test kit out there in hardware stores. If there is, it would probably be with the lead test kits, perhaps in the smoke detector section.

Your post at least prodded me into rearranging how I have my machine. My nightstand is an end table with a built-in light plus a magazine rack on the bottom. I have my white noise machine set inside the magazine rack. I tried a few things to cover the top of the magazine rack and finally settled on a plastic box picture frame (11 x 17). If I have it turned upright, so that the machine sits inside the box, I can't remove the humidifier. So I turned it over and the machine just sits on top of the frame. Nice! I finally have my table top back for my other "stuff." I wish I would have tried this back in August even. I had thought about it.. but that only happened during the day and then by night time, I just wanted to go to sleep. It doesn't look as nice as your setup, but at least my side of the bed is the FAR side and if anyone were ever at our house, they wouldn't see it by just glancing in our bedroom. I even had to set the machine so that the buttons would light up when it was on so I could find the on/off switch! (I hate having anything lit up when I'm trying to sleep but I can't see them now.) I just ordered the heated hose yesterday, so I suppose I'll have to find another power strip. Seems to me I saw some in fashion colors somewhere... like purple.
