Another take on the new FP 432 FF mask!

Well, a funny thing happened last night. I got a size small and medium of the new 432 FF mask to try out yesterday. I quickly determined that the medium wouldn't work because, while it fit under my chin properly (as it should), I had huge 'eye' leaks. So I tried the small size, and found it too short to fit under my chin (just kind of rested in the middle of it under my lower lip), but was otherwise SO comfortable to wear, I decided to try it anyway last night (if only as a 'different' kind of nasal mask), and... I slept like a log, longer than usual, and feel terrific! Nutty, maybe, but it was great! Now I'm going to give it a bit longer of a trial, but may just switch over to it as my main mask if this keeps up! It did 'seal' under my mouth, and the foam insert makes the whole thing so cushy! I do sleep on my front, so having a mask without hard edges is crucial, and this one's a dream - the only other one to feel so comfy was the Activa, but for whatever reason, I awake feeling crummy when I wear it. Anyhow, that's the story... interested to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I also purchased and reviewed the F&P 432. I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly! After working my way through an array of nasal pillow masks, nasal masks, and a ResMed Ultra Mirage FF Mask, I was actually shocked by the comfort level of the 432. I was left wondering why no other manufacturer had incorporated the foam seal into their products. I couldn't agree with you more. It's pure bliss in terms of the manner in which it envelops and seals on your face.

I hope the 432 continues to work for you. If you wake up feeling much better than you did with previous masks then certainly something is going right.

I seem to be the only person suffering abrasion on the side of my nose with this mask. I have had pressure sores on my nasal bridge with other masks, but this is on just one side of my nose, where the foam insert would contact skin. I never had any problem with the HC431.

I'm beginning to think this may be a defective mask, with some fit and finish problem, and I may email cpap.com to see if they're hearing of this.

Any similar experience?

As I said in an earlier post, the 432 was a big disappointment for me, especially because I'd read so many positive comments from others. No matter how I adjusted it I couldn't stop leaks for more than just a few minutes at a time, especially along my lower jaw. So in addition to a sore nose, I was waking up frequently during the night to either readjust the straps to stop the leaks or to alleviate the pain all around the mask caused by cinching it down too tightly. And that's with a pressure level of just 11. It clearly wasn't designed for this mug of mine.

I wore my 432 for 15 minutes, and had such a sore nose that it's still sore a week later. And yes, it was along one side of the nose.
I wear the FP HC407 normally, so I understand how the headgear works - i.e. the concept of not tightening down the straps too much, so that's not it.
I'm also thinking that some of the cushions are defective.
I remember one poster saying they trimmed the cushion in some way, and was able to make the mask work. (I can't find that post.)
That's a interesting concept of having it seal under your bottom lip, rather than under the chin.
Perhaps I'll try that, too, as I'm desperate for this mask to work.
