ComfortLite II Leak

Post by GoodGuy » Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:36 am

I've been on CPAP 3 weeks and of the three masks I've tried ( the other 2 were the Ultra Mirage 2 and the Swift) I like the ComfortLite II by far the best but it's got a leak and I'm wondering about others' experience. I am using the simple cushion which fits my face well but where the cushion fits over the elbow it leaks at virtually all pressures. Is this unusual at this spot so that a replacing it would likely correct it or it best to fix it with a "home remedy" and if so what is recommended ? Thanks. -- Austin in Atlanta

P.S. Thanks to everyone for feedback on mouthbreathing and taping. I'm likely to become a "taper" .... more to follow.

Does it leak with the other size Simple Cushion, included with your mask?
Are you sure its leaking between Simple Cushion and the air tube. I think
this would be very hard to determine, because the exhaust ports are in
the same area.

I'm sure a "home remedy", such are plumbers Teflon tape would be less costly than a new cushion. Furthermore if the problem is caused by an undersized elbow, a new one may also leak..
+ Aussie heated hose.

ComfortLite II Leak

Although I use the medium size cushion, it does leak on the large also, just not as much. Although the exhaust is in the same area it is directed from a different spot so you can feel the air flow from the leak. I took your suggestion and teflon taped it which did confirm the leak as it solved the problem. Thanks for that advice ! -- Austin
