October 1st, have YOU emailed resmed today?

Post by dllfo » Sun Oct 01, 2006 1:49 pm

I just emailed resmed to tell them I won't be buying anymore products from them due to their predatory pricing against us.

I also reminded them about their crummy hoses on the Swift. I have had 3 ends come off their hoses. And I have heard others on this website with this problem.

Try to take a moment to express your displeasure. The more RESMED charges, the more your insurance has to charge you to cover it. Maybe not today, but eventually we all pay for these artificially inflated prices.

Did an oil company recently buy resmed?

Grow up!!!

Post by GoofyUT » Sun Oct 01, 2006 2:17 pm

I wish everyone would just GROW UP regarding this ResMed price increase nonsense.

Here's the issue in a nutshell: ResMed has made the BUSINESS decision to protect their brick and mortar distribution network at the risk of sacrificing their internet distribution. That should tell ya something about where the mioney really is in the SDB-DME business.

This has NOTHING to do with quality of patient care, morals, ethics or anything else. ResMed DOESN"T LOVE YOU, or even care about you. Neither do ANY of the others. Its just a business decision. You don't like it, DON'T BUY RESMED STOCK.

Now, go ahead and waste bandwidth with silly e-mails to ResMed telling them that you'll never buy ANYTHING from them again! Go ahead! THEY DON'T GIVE A HOOT! They've done their financial models and decided that all of you NOT EVER buying another piece of ResMed gear is OK with them, since they'll make in up in brick and mortar DME sales, and then some.

So, GROW UP, I'm begging you!

Chuck

That's no Fun! I've had to be a grownup for too many years, I want a Do Over!

If you will all put up the money, I'll buy 51% of Resmed stock, and We will have a new board of directers. I'll even get R & D to turn on EPR in the APAP Mode. We will sell World Wide on the Web.

All it will take is that 51% for stock. Jim

Chuck,

You may be "right", but I'm with Jim on this.....THAT's no fun!
Figuratively speaking, I want to go poking my fingers in the eyes of all the "bullies" that I can.

I wrote and sent them my e-mail on the 27th.
I don't care if they don't like it, don't care about it, want to ignore it, or whatever. As a user of one of their products, I've got a right to speak my mind to them. After all, they did set up a "My ResMed" site on their main website.....which I've never signed up for.
They also don't know whether or not I'm a stockholder.

I figure telling them how I feel may not help, but it won't hurt.

Just my 3 1/2 cents worth.....

GoofyUT has it right. A couple years ago I exchanged E-mails with the President of ResMed about a quality control (or lack of control) issue with their diffuser elbows. During that exchange he made it very clear that he felt his customer was DME suppliers, not the end users. I wrote that internet purchasing is a reality and he ought to change his and the company policies about dealing directly with end users. He obviously didn't listen to me and he won't listen to all the grumbling on this web site. He made the decision to support his DME customers and that is not going to change unless his profit/loss statement proves he is wrong. As Goofy said, if you don't like it don't buy ResMed products. We will all know within a year or two, if he made a wise decision for his shareholders.

Sorry we upset you Chuck. I, for one, support people like our host. (NOT THAT YOU DON'T Chuck...I am not trying to irritate anyone here).

Resmed DID make a business decision. Lot's of stupid CEOs out there.
Office Max's CEO refused to repair my HP4600N and now they are answering to the AG of Calif. Stupid. Bill Ford made a huge mistake at Ford and he has been fired because people like me quit buying fords. Enron made a well know mistake. So these corporate "Giants" do NOT live in a vacuum. If people like us tell our insurance people we don't want their products, it WILL lead their mgt team to make another business decision. If we tuck our tails and say nothing, we just inherit higher insurance premiums. Then they win for sure.

So I proudly tell you I emailed them. I hope others express their dismay at this giant step backwards. It is resmed's right, just like the oil companies., but we do NOT have to like it. Emailing them is NOT silly.

I try to stay out of religious and political discussions, but to answer your question, I have not written R**med, reasons being:

(1) They're making a business decision that will be evaluated by the marketplace,

(2) There are masks and blowers out there that are, in my opinion, as good or better than theirs (Respironics seems to work better for me), although there is huge variation in different xPAP user's requrements and preferences, and

(3) If they made a product that I thought might improve my treatment, and I could afford it, I'd buy it despite how offensive and backward I think their strategy is.

Online xPAP buyers are probably 5% of the market. The group of people on this board probably includes the most knowledgeable 5% of all xPAP users. We're not a big enough group to matter to them. They've stated publically that they want to eliminate online sales. I think they are making the same mistake many companies, mostly defunct, have made, which is to think this Internet thing is just a fad, but I'm content to let the free market rule on that, as it does any business decision.
