Got my Hybrid yesterday and washed all the parts up and got 'er ready to go.
While inspecting the mask I observed some things.
The retaining ring for the elbow is very thin and cheap looking compared to the one on my Activa. The headgear straps are narrower and thinner.
Overall the quality does not appear to be as high as the Activa.
I tried the large sizes last night. Had quite a few problems with leaks waking me up. And the nose pieces felt like they were jammed into my nostrils. The air blowing into my nose felt cold like it was freezing my nostrils.
It felt like the mask had crept up. The chin flap was only about half way under my chin.
I wonder if they make an extra large.
Although I may try the medium tonight just to see how much worse it is. Maybe a medium would not come up as high and jam those pieces into my nostrils as hard.
I had them set on the low setting but still felt a lot of pressure on the nares.
Although my nose isn't sore this morning.
I had the straps tightened down so much that first thing this morning it felt like there were marks on my face ... but there weren't. But I felt like I still had the mask on.
I set my S8 Elite to MIR FULL for the mask setting, although I have no idea what MIR stands for.
My numbers were BAD BAD BAD.
Pressure 9.0 < correct
Leak 1.22 L/s ( not unexpected )
AHI 13.2 < TERRIBLE
AI 1.4
HI 11.8 < TERRIBLE
But I didn't feel particulary bad this morning, even with those numbers .. but I'll see as the day goes along.
I may need to change some settings such as for the mask type. And maybe lower the pressure. I have it set on 9.8 in order to get a reported 9.0 which is what it is supposed to be. But, perhaps with this mask it needs to be lower.
On the positive side -- a couple of times when I woke up during the night, the mask seemed comfortable in that I could sleep on my side without the Darth Vader superstructure of the Aptiva smooshing into the pillow. With this mask it isn't necessary to hang your face over the edge of a pillow. It certainly has potential if I can work out some kinks. I liked being able to put my glasses on with the mask on.
If anyone else is using the Hybrid with the S8 Elite, I'd like to hear what your mask settings etc. are.

You're whole experience sounds a lot like mine, which is why I kicked my hybrid to the curb, after three nights.Arizona-Willie wrote:The air blowing into my nose felt cold like it was freezing my nostrils.
But I am also curious about why that air does seems so cold on the nostrils?
I haven't experienced that with any other mask I've used (9 total), including other nasal pillow types.

All of RedMed's masks are named Mirage something.
