I am tired of having to take the chamber off, go to the kitchen or bathroom and fill the HH chamber. there must be a way to fill it without spilling water everywhere. and not having to walk all over the house with the water or chamber


what i would like to be able ot do is have the distilled water jug either on the floor or under the bedside table, and when i need to top off the chamber, just remove a hose from the top of the chamber and stick a tube into the chamber and Fill'er up. Any Ideas??

That's how I've always filled it, Respironics even includes a funnel, but being messy, i use a larger one. If I took it to the bathroom i'd probably spill it before I got it to the machine. Anyway I don't have a distilled water tap in my bathroom. Jim

Which machine do you have?
Respironics includes a funnel (or at least they did) with their machines.

What I do is to keep an empty (plastic) pop bottle filled with distilled water in my refrigerator (I like it cool) and then when it gets down a ways, I top it off with that (through the funnel).....saves having to carry a big jug of water around and spilling it on the machine.

Well ...

... you could get yourself one of those 2 gallon water dispensers with a spigot ... then go to the hardware store and get you a convenient length of flexible plastic hose to fit the spigot.

... you could also use a water cooler with a spigot and do the same thing.

... basically any container with a spigot dispenser that you can connect a plastic hose to should work

I had a used RemStar Plus, that did not come with a funnel, and it was slightly awkward to fill. Presently I have a RemStar PLUS M series, and they are even more awkward to fill...and btw, inside the brand new box, there was no funnel to be found.

You can buy a whole set of funnels (various sizes) at any local discount store for next to nothing.

Oh No!, Not a "M"agic without a funnel, where will the improvements end.

The Full Size comes with a funnel, I guess that accounts for the size and weight savings. If you have to get a new HH container, for the old heavy one, it comes with another funnel, and two more adaptor connectors. A funnel like you would use in the kitchen to fill a bottle is the better size. The worst part is seeing the water level, it pays to keep a flashlight on the nightstand. Jim

What machine are you trying to fill? The ResMed Compact S8 humidifier has a lift-out chamber that only has a hole in the top. It is easy to carry without spilling. It is also a little hard to get the water TOTALLY drained.

I carry my humidifier chamber into the bathroom, where I do NOT have a spigot but DO have a 2 gallon bottle of distilled water with a simple spigot. It came equipped this way.

Coincidentally, the spigot extends over the counter edge. If I hold the chamber UNDER the counter and against the cabinet drawer, the spigot is directly over the humidifier chamber's fill hole.

Just lucky. My worst filling problem is tipping the 2 gallon container up to allow air into it. Then the water flows more freely.

gecko, for several years I've used the same heated humidifier you have...the F&P HC 150.

I've always just kept the jug of distilled water beside the nightstand. I use a large funnel to just add more water up to the fill line each night. I rarely ever dump the water out. I just keep adding more as needed.

It helps to have a hard plastic connector so that you don't have to constantly work the rubber cuff of the hose off the humidifier hole on top. Easy to take the hose off, use the funnel to direct the water in, and stick the hose back on. Never have to carry the humidifier anywhere.

I just use a large "sports bottle", the kind with the pull-up top. I keep it filled with distilled water, and park it on the nightstand. When the HH needs filling, I just squirt it full from the bottle. The top fits neatly into the HH's fill opening. Lasts for several fillings, and I don't have to transport anything but the bottle, which is spill proof when the pull top in pressed closed.

I have a gallon jug with distilled water in my walk in closet. Also have a small 3" dia funnel. I just remove the hose, insert the funnel and refill right on the machine.

If you have a Resmed machine, you can add a short curved 1/2" ID clear hose to the funnel and also refill it on the machine.

If you have the new M series, a bit harder you have to slide out the tank to refill.

I only have to refill my tank once a week or so.

I have the same humidifier, HC150, and think it's the easiest to fill.
I keep a container (found at grocery store) filled with distilled water nearby in the bedroom, and funnel. It's so handy, to just pop off the hose, then fill it whenever needed.

I think the integrated hh are a real pain to fill.
Not the reason I have the HC150 (ambient tracking, etc.), but filling it is certainly so much simpler, and I can locate it wherever I want.

I don't throw out any water that's in the humidifier, just add to it.

I don't seem to have this problem.

I have a similar setup to the original poster (Remstar Auto with integrated humidifier -- I know his is a BiPAP but the setup with the humidifier looks the same) and I just take the distilled water jug (gallon size) and pour it into the humidifier that is still attached to the machine.

I take off a little water on a new jug because the first cup or two is hard to pour -- I pour that into the previous jug. My machine is on the floor on a hard plastic sheet. I sometimes get a little watter in the indentation where the hose attaches to the humidifier, but that doesn't hurt anything.

I put very little water in. If it gets used up and goes dry that is ok, and I don't take the humidifier off very often to clean it. (but that is another thread).

Anyone else like me that just pours? If I do miss a little the hard plastic it is sitting on protects the rug and it will evaporate on its own. Only time I worry is if I slosh any on the machine itself which is rare.
