Probably not Tooly. That looks like a flash card reader. A flash memory card is a whole different animal than the cards that are used in the Remstar CPAPs. My understanding is that we are basically stuck with one brand of card reader and that is because the drivers that let the reader "speak" to the software has only been developed for the one type of reader. Maybe someone with the skill and knowledge to write a driver for another brand of card reader could succeed. But, a flash card reader is out of the mix. Hope that helps.

Here's a card reader that will work with the Respironics Smart Card.
http://www.two-factor.com/shop/index.php?productID=115
Desktop USB Smart Card Reader
It's the Mako "Infineer" DT3500 card reader.
Do not use the driver installer CD that comes in the box with the Mako Infineer card reader. Just throw the CD away.
Instead install this driver, which you can get from the card reader's product page:
Installer for EncorePro: DT3500-ISW-Encorepro_v1_3.exe

Thanks
I found this on a auction site and probable would have won the bid for one dollar.
It has a fifteen dollar u-buy it price to skip the auction.
I had a feeling it wouldn't be that easy.

I have to agree with Tim. That looks a lot like the flash card reader I have that I got for reading the Sony memory sticks for my camera. Via Rested gals suggestion I just ordered one of the DT3500 card readers from the Two-Factor website on friday. The total came to $31.80, which includes shipping. I have already received three e-mails from them keeping me informed of the status of my order. 1st e-mail said that my order had been processed, 2nd said that my order had been shipped, and 3rd e-mail said that it had left Hong Kong and provided a link and # for tracking. I also got another e-mail that was a same day response to a question I had. So far I'm impressed, these guys seem to be right on top of things. I placed another order with HydroMed here in the states on the same day - I'm curious to see which arrives first. --- BT

I bought one of their readers & use it on a variety of Respironics machines.
They really are great businessmen. Very professional & very quick to realise
there is a market demand that they can fill in a tidy professional way.
Having lived in HK for 3 years I developed a great respect for the high level of honesty & hard working nature of the HK Chinese (Cantonese). In fact, back in Australia I am far more protective of my personal possesions than I ever needed to be in HK, but Australia was after all founded as a convict colony & time & again I feel we haven't progressed much beyond one
In HK I often saw workmen leave their tools on a city sidewalk & go have lunch - back in Australia, those tools would vanish in no time. Same with many other possessions like clothes on your clotheslines which can dissapear if there is the slightest access to the line from off the property (but mostly in the city & close suburbs).
In fact that standard way of getting rid of junk or anything in Australia is to place it on your footpath & then be satisfied it will nearly all be gone before dark

I have NOT tried that one, but I think you have to use the Respironics driver that comes on the EncorePro CDROM. That driver is written for the Mako DT3500 which is the same thing as the INFINEER reader. The SmartCard has driver signature and if you use another driver it may not find the reader. The EncorePro software sends the unlock and lock key when it communicates with the SmartCard.

The Respironics driver can be downloaded from the 2factors web site.
DO NOT USE THE DRIVER THAT COMES ON A CD WITH THE CARD READER
FROM 2FACTORS.

DSM - I see your firearms are being confiscated. I'll bet the crime rate

What winds up the most cost effective way to get the software and smartcard reader? I see one of the online vendors wants $179 for the bundle, if I buy the reader from the site mentioned above where can I get the software inexpensively?
(I would buy the bundle, but have sort of promised my sleep doc not to become obsessive about this, and not to make it too important to see how I slept every night, how many apneas I had, how much prssure was used and so forth.... so the middle road is buy cheaply let it take a while to come and try to be trusting and just continue my treatment)
