Heated Hose Question

Post by Guest » Thu Jun 15, 2006 2:51 pm

Just got the heated hose today. Any precations I should take with it? I was a little concerned because of the hard plastic fixed nossle that connects to my S9 APAP machine. Worried that sudden movements while asleep could damage it. Could just be first day with new toy anxiety.

Thanks for the help!

Jack

I highly recommend that the next time you order from CPAP.COM you pick up one of these, if you don't already have one. It will save wear and tear on a very expensive piece (the heated hose). With it you will not be pulling on the hose end each time you remove it from the humidifier.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the heated hose comes with its own hard plastice (adapter connector) built in..At least mine seems to have...

I whole heartedly agree with Snoozin Bluezzz! If you place one of those quick connects on your heated hose, you will place far less wear and tear on the hose end. Having to remove my hose daily is sooooo much easier with the quick connect! And yes, I ordered mine from CPAP.com!

The older ones apparently didn't (mine was about a year ago).
Are you sure it built in and not "snap outable"?

When I got my heated hose it said not to submege it when cleaning. It also has a grey material over the hose. It appears that this is not removable. How do y'all clean your heated hose??

Bonnie,
What I do with mine is after cleaning everything else, I hook both ends of the HH to the humidifier in and out then fill the hose with soapy water using the HH tank. swish, empty and dry.

Question, I looked in the ends last night and saw the copper coils visible inside on one area. Does this indicate that I have already managed to overheat the hose and melt the wire through the tubing? Yikes!

Is anyone using the heated hose with the CL2 mask?

Thanks!

Bonnie,
OOps, I don't really use the baby shampoo as an aroma therapy.

Terry, I am going to try your tip, it really sounds like a good idea, but I will rinse.....

booty, you might want to see a doctor about that.....you might be suffering from serious delusions of actually having one.

Some more questions about the heated hose

1. Mine definitely came with a snap outable elbow plastic connector adapter.

2. It got so out that it seemed to heat up my entire bed when I had below my pillow, is this normal? Is there a way to overcome this? Should I put another cover over it?

3. I want to add about 18 inches of extension hose. Would this cause a problem?

Thanks!

Jack

No problem.

Of course the warmed air will begin cooling off when it leaves the heated hose and enters the unheated connector hose for the last bit of the journey to your mask. Unless your bedroom is super cold, the unheated portion of extra hose probably won't cool the air off to the point of rainout. Should be fine.

Where does one find 18"-24" of extension hose? I would like to do the same thing but I don't see it in those lenghts anywhere, not full size hose.
