To Pugsy, with remorse.
Hi... I'm not PM'g this one, because it's short and maybe I'll get some feedback from others.
But, can I ask why it seems that every time I reply to a poster (I'm talking about the short stuff, straightforward basics, etc) and spell things out clearly, for some reason you find it necessary to follow-up on my heels saying just the same thing as if I hadn't done it at all, or had spoken in Martian. And it is beginning to bug me... just a very tiny little bit...
e.g. see "Forum Help" which is all about picking up PMs from the outbox... did I say the wrong thing (again) and you felt the poster could not possibly understand, and therefore had to come in and explain it again for them?
You do such amazing work here for everyone, isn't getting 99% of the audience enough... couldn't the last 1% be left for the rest of us to deal with, without feeling we were screwing up (again)?
Maybe I'm just having one of those days, but this has actually been stewing for quite a while... so here it is. And I'm sure I'll get blasted by everyone else, but at this point I don't even care much.

If it makes you feel better it looks like you were both posting in the forum help post. Don't know about the others though. I find you both very knowledgeable and helpful though.

Julie...I hit my submit button at about the same time you did...I didn't even see your response..
Check the times...1 minute apart but really wasn't one minute...your reply was NOT there when I was done and clicked submit.
Geez...lots of people say the same thing in threads all the time...
Trust me...I am not picking on you despite what you think and if I had seen your response I would have just NOT sent mine since I already know that you are super sensitive about it and get all upset about it. I really don't go out of my way to pick on you..really, really don't. I have much better things to do.
Why not go say this same thing to the other people who happen to say the same thing that you do?
Is there some forum rule where 2 people can't say the same thing that I am not aware of??

speaking for myself, sometimes I hit reply, type up something, and then only afterwards see that someone has already answered it... sometimes I catch that and delete what I said, or edit it... sometimes I don't notice until later that someone responded at nearly the same time.Julie wrote:Hi... Ok, fair point - did not consider the timing of 'submit' and of course many people have similar responses to posts, but it has struck me before that so many of mine are lockstep followed by yours...
However, this "since I already know that you are super sensitive about it and get all upset about it." is way out of left field because I can't honestly remember another such instance ever arising. And I disagree anyhow as it's just not true. I do sometimes misread posts and when they're pointed out to me I correct them, apologize, etc., whatever is appropriate, and if it were that important that I was too sensitive (and can you please cite one time I've ever been 'all upset about" anything) I would just have left here long ago. Apparently no one can say anything that disagrees with your ideas or they get labelled. Wonderful. Hope I haven't gotten others upset however - not my intention by a mile.

I often don't have time to thoroughly read all the answers to a thread, so I figure if I'm saying what someone else already said, it's a form of one of us giving credibility to what the other has said. I know there have been threads that I've read or reread and thought "I already said that".
So, without REPEATING everything that PR said, I'm agreeing with him......again. (and sometimes he agrees with me)
And, I did notice that there was only one minute separating the two replies by Julie and Pugsy.
It happens, don't let it "bug" you.

You know what Julie...we had this same conversation privately a while back. You choose to remember what you want to remember but I lost sleep over our last fight because I thought you were my friend and I couldn't understand where all the hostility was coming from. Remember the fight over the wedge pillow? I sure as hell do.
Maybe you don't think you were being super sensitive but I sure do and this thread here sort of pretty much confirms it.
And just as you are entitled to your opinion...I am entitled to mine.
I don't say anything anymore about anything you say....I make a point because no matter what I do or say I can't please you.
I make a point to not agree or disagree because nothing I do or say suits you. I can't win.
And now I can't post in the same thread and say the same thing you say...which by the way is my agreeing with you...without this sort of public crap.
Feel free to put me on your Foe list if I annoy you so much.
I am done here. Good night.

I'm not sure why this was not addressed privately but it looks like others have provided you the valuable feedback that you were seeking (submitting posts around the same time). With the open possibility that you are "just having one of those days" please do not turn this discussion into a 'cat' fight on the forum (Yes, pun intended).

Re: To Pugsy, with love
I almost can't believe this thread... I said "almost". This forum gets more crazy daily... from mean spirited people to complete nut jobs who post nonsense.
Pugsy is here just about 24/7. I sometimes wonder if she really uses CPAP. If she posts in a thread I will "always" go to her post first. She makes more sense to me than most other people here. Not all of us are computer techs or get things the first time... she is always the first one to jump in and explain things in a way that even a small child can understand. New people especially need that kind of support.
I find this amazing, Julie. Why would you jump on someone who actually gives a s**t? Any time she jumps in, either before or after essentially the same comments, she says it better! If I have a question I feel more comfortable asking her than calling my doctor. Maybe that's because she'll actually have an answer?!
Either you forgot to use your machine last nite or you're having a bad day. Of all people to put on the defensive! And, for god sakes... in an open thread... to someone who spends hours helping others! You owe her a big apology!

Re: To Pugsy, with love
Hi Julie - here is my feedback.. I have been a forum member for a couple of months, and during that time I have read a LOT of posts from many other members. From what I have seen and experienced, Pugsy and others post valuable information. I appreciate similar posts; I tend to believe that the factual (not opinionated) info that is being given is more reliable/ valid when more than one person repeats it.Julie wrote:Hi... I for one, would not be offended if someone posted similar info that I also commented about; I would feel good that I am giving out reliable information to others and therefore, learning as I continue to study all aspects of cpap treatment. I also would not be offended if someone (respectfully) corrected info that I may have given, because I am still new to this and learning.
I think the people that are here to truly help others aren't concerned about an 'audience.' If you want followers, maybe you can start a blog on another site?
Just my two cents..

Re: To Pugsy
RIIINNNGGGG!!!! I am ringing the bell now. The fight is over. People come here seeking advice, not to read public lashings. Come on you two, kiss and make up now. Sometimes two or three different ways to say the same thing, from multiple people posting, helps to answer a question better. Please go back to posting answers to questions. That is why we are here, to help each other, remember?

Re: To Pugsy
Julie,
Regardless of the reason, you chose to address this in public on the forum. I think this should have been kept between you & Pugsy via PM. Pugsy didn't deserve to be slammed in public like that. Try the shoe on the other foot & I'm sure you would not want her to have said something like this to you in public, even if it needed saying. And I don't see from what I read that the problem exists. Sometimes you say something one way & Pugsy says the same thing, just from a different approach. Neither of you are right or wrong, just said the same thing coming from a different perspective.
Its crap like this that make members hesitant to post their opinions & offers of help. If everyone who posts never knows when they will step on toes & find themselves in the middle of a shit slinging contest, then many folks will stop posting. That doesn't help anyone.
I would like to quote BlackSpinner but I can't remember her exact words. It goes something like this...'we are all expected to act like adults'. So why don't we try that & conduct private conversations in private.
Jen

I think it's kind of cool when people think the same thing almost simultaneously.
Sometimes we really are "talking at the same time", but the internet doesn't "read" like that.
We know it happens in a face to face conversation--remember them?
--And like in "real life", some of us might feel ignored.
Can we all share a big cyber hug, and realize we are all here to help others, not to quibble?
