Stormy, I'm not one to judge all that quickly, but in this case I think I will go with my first impression ... You picked a really rough way to avoid taking care of the squirrels!! A simple "No!" would have been a lot easier!! ...

I would have loved taking care of those babies. I have raised a lot of them and set them free. They are just so cute. I have taken them to work with me before and hid them in a box in case the inspector decided to show up while they were there. Caring for baby animals is fun. It is sad to see anything die.

My son catches rainwater in 5 gallon buckets to use in the garden,
The other day, he caught a very young possum instead.
We took the little critter a few blocks away to Wilderness Park and released it there.
Not in our garden, thank you!

I remember Wilderness Park, we lived near there.

Stormy,

I hate it, too. But I have issues with lymphedema as a result of my cancer surgery, so I don't have an option. I must go lie down for periods of time and put my feet in the air.

You've just been through something WAY serious, so take it freakin' EASY, willya?

I got the girls hair done. I think it did raise my blood pressure. They had to go to the shop and pick up the supplies. It was like herding cats but they got it done. The baby squirrels were adorable and growing very quickly. The girls' hair turned out very nice. I was actually surprised it turned out so well doing it at home and all. I don't know what they will do when I can't do it anymore.

They will have you watching your grandchildren while they go to the beauty parlor.

I think the only thing worse would be a skunk ... We have just rescued a wonderful Pomeranian (she was in a puppy mill) who is very inquisitive. Occasionally we smell a skunk around the outside of the house, so I am dreading Pom and skunk meeting one dark night ...

BTW, boy, did this thread go OT - on the other hand, laughter is good medicine, so may be it's good for you, Stormy!

They will find a new favourite place to go. When we moved to Canada my mother cut my father's hair, at first to save money and then because Dad is a stick in the mud and he didn't want to deal with strangers. Then Mom started working full time at a demanding job and got bit by the politics bug and she just said "No". So he found a place to get his hair cut - a hair salon - and has followed Judy from place to place because "he is a stick-in-the-mud and doesn't want to deal with strangers"

Bob, I have great grandchildren. I have bottle fed baby skunks too. The only time my husband ever yelled at me was for bringing one home in a hat he left in the car. He was just furious. His hat wasn't harmed in any way but he never wore it again.

It is a good thing most of the time when people get attached to their hairstylist. Years ago a man flew from Arizona to Tulsa where I worked to get hair cuts. His wife put a stop to that. I don't blame her one bit. That made for a very expensive haircut. He had a habit of shaving his own neck and often got a little too high with the razor. I always looked before I snipped. He was funny.

Well, here then! The grandkids playing with the stripped kitties!

Image

Had a friend laying on his sofa one hot evening and he looked up and saw a skunk inside the doorway. Said he looked over and the dog saw him about the same time. Took about 40 cans of tomato juice to clean the dog and carpets....I told him, about 40 more might make a difference.

Glad to see you feeling better!
