Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
MtnMan,
I know this is a newbie thread but I saw you've only posted once so I'll throw in a quick thought.
I have the same equipment as you and I just started therapy in mid-February. My results were very similar to yours but ten weeks later, my AHI's are down to the 1-2 level. Very few, if any, are OA's. So, you've gone around three weeks now ... Hopefully you're seeing some improvement or a trend downwards.
Good luck ... I love having my S9 now. I sleep so much better and feel great. BP is down 15%, weight is falling ... all good stuff.
Chris

Just a general thank you to the board. Just started therapy, and got a lot of great info from lurking the boards. Thanks again!

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Another general "thank you" to all of you who have generously shared your experiences. I just got my diagnosis today and am stunned to realize that I will spend the rest of my life tethered to a machine at night. I realize that my problem is small compared to others', but it is still a difficult thing to get my mind around. I've been trying all sorts of things for the past 10 years -- somnoplasty, sinus surgery -- but apparently my sleep apnea has gotten worse and there aren't any real options other than CPAP. I'm actually looking forward to finding out if I will feel better, but I hate the idea of it. It is tremendously assuring that there are people who have gone through this and are living normal lives and are actually doing fine with all of this. Thank you all again for being there.

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Not sure where to start posting, this being my first post. I tried Vitamin B complex, more exercise (when i had the energy), going to be earlier, etc. to try to conquer my tiredness. I just generally push through it and take caffein pills. A couple of months ago, someone suggested that I might have Sleep Apnea. Then I went to a retreat and my roommate (a respiratory therapist) said she was ready to get out of bed and give me CPR, I stopped breathing so long. Last Sunday I had my sleep test. Going in I was afraid they might not find anything. When I came out the next morning, they said I had severe sleep apnea. My next session is on June 20th. I've been tired so long I'm not sure what feeling good will feel like. I guess right now I'm feeling a bit depressed, I'm eating everything in the house. I do feel good that now I know what's wrong. But at 63, I'm sorry about the wasted years of not knowing. I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to learning from all of you. Thanks for being here.

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
For EncoreAnywhere, does anyone have an idea on what the resolution is of the detailed breath by breath data (5hz, 1hz, 0.01 hz?).
How much data is captured. How often is it captured? One night every 7 days? Is it on the smartCard or is it wireless?
How long is that data stored? Forever? 1 year? 1 month?
Any answers to any one of these questions is most appreciated!!!!

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Hi,
Very new to this all. Signing in from Australia, unable to find any forums locally to help support me on my new journey. Only just diagnosed with the dreaded OSA after two overnight sleep tests, plus other medical testing - oh well - onwards and upwards, and hopefully to a better nights sleep - darling husband needs a good night sleep also.
Finding great information here about what I need to do, and what I dont need to do plus excellent support for what I think will be a bumping start.
I havent purchased any equipment as yet, doing my research first.
Great forum - thanks for the info
Looking forward to sharing my journey!!

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
My husband & I are new to this CPaP stuff. We are from Missouri and moved here recently from CA. We were thinking that it was his gall bladder problems that were causing the sleeping disorder. Thankful for this site so that we can gain information & support.

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
I am from Australia.
I could not easily find (although I am still looking) any good "forums" for anything CPAP related in Australia.
This is a forum I have been reading for a while, and decided to join up with as it is a good one and gives some sound advice.

This is great. Thank you!
Have one favor, if anyone has this information available: the website for sleepyhead. I've been looking for it for awhile the a.m. and maybe I'm blind or something but I can't find it here. I don't want to google - I want the one YOU guys recommend.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Hi all new to the boards and the XPAP life. It was great to read the posts covering insurance and DME issues. I have CIGNA and they use CareCentrix as a 3rd party so hopefully all will go smoothly. After Reading the many posts about machines I am going to ask for the s9 Autoset with humidifier and heated hose. I just wanted to say hi and thank you for being a great community.

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start
Hi everyone! Just got my CPAP delivered to me today and am so excited to use it and get a good nights rest. I got diagnosed with OSA about a month ago and had two sleep studies done. The second one was my CPAP titration study and I felt amazing when I woke up the next morning. After months of constantly feeling tired and half brain dead it was a glorious feeling to have energy again. I still have a lot to learn about this condition, but hopefully that's where this place comes in.
